Why would manly give him a get out clause at the end of next year when it's known already that Hasler won't be there.
Maybe that's the only way they could get him to sign.
Manly are desperate to give their fans some good news at the moment, even if that good news amounts to nothing more than a 1 year extension for a Kangaroo who played pretty well today.
I would say t's either a 1 year deal with an option in his favour for a second or it's bullsh1t
Option in his favour = 1 year contract
Player options effectively hold the club to ransom - they're only ever exercised when a player receives zero interest from clubs in the contract's final year (e.g. Mortimer).
Most big stars have player options, while plenty of fringe players have club options in their final year. An option on a contract is worth a lot of money to the party who holds the option. Often it's used to bargain the value of a contract up or down (for club and player options, respectively).
