Mate, every season is in large part dictated by previous seasons.

That's why no-one (except you) blames Kearney for finishing third last this year. He hasn't been at the club long enough to take full ownership of the team's on-field results.

Next year he will bear more of the responsibility, and the year after you could safely say he's been at the club long enough to deserve full credit (or blame) for where we're sitting on the table.

Des Hasler's first three seasons looked like this:

2004 Finished 13th (out of 15 teams)
2005 Finished 8th (belted 46-22 in week 1 finals)
2006 Finished 5th (lost 25-18 in week 1 finals, smashed 28-0 in week 2)

The year after that they came 2nd and lost the grand final and the year after that they were premiers.

oh crap - we gotta wait 4yrs til we win it :(

I try to forget the rest of 2005 after that game. I never can though, I remember sitting waiting for the Cowboys game to start, I was already planning how to celebrate a grand final win when my grandmother said "You watch them come out and lose 29 - 0" in reference to the Eels, and we all know what happened next....

You burnt her at the stake? I f**king would have.

oh crap - we gotta wait 4yrs til we win it :(

Good news is we only have to wait three years for another grand final loss.

every seasons a loss if you dont hold the trophy up at the end of the season 3rd or 15 you still end up with nothin...

But sports fans don't just live in that period at the end of a season; we live in the moment as well as in the future.

So it can be said that you're only as good as your last game. We won our last game this year. Only us, the Roosters, Bulldogs and Manly won our last game of the season. The other 12 teams are coming off a loss.

Then there's the anticipation of your next game, or even of your next season. Looking forward to next year is what got me through this year, because by about round 3 I realised it was going to be a long season.

SK has his roster this year so we will see how he goes then.

Surely you mean next year. This year's season is already over.

It was Tyrell Felstead-Fuimaono. Look for him to be ready to lead the team around in the 2020 NRL Competition. Well done to Ossie.

Nah the Cowboys were smart enough to sign him up long before anyone else had heard of him.

This bloke is his younger brother. Hopefully we haven't picked up the family dud.

Yeah he looks like he'll be a really good player. What position does his younger brother play?

I found a team listing for an Auckland rep team with him on the wing: http://www.aucklandleague.co.nz/site_files/00000446_teams for website.pdf

Also, it looks like he's a year older than Jason, not younger (Warner's in the under 15s, Jason's in the under 14s): http://www.aucklandleague.co.nz/site_files/00000451_2007Final Auckland Squads minus awards.pdf

That makes him 20 next year.
