Mate, every season is in large part dictated by previous seasons.
That's why no-one (except you) blames Kearney for finishing third last this year. He hasn't been at the club long enough to take full ownership of the team's on-field results.
Next year he will bear more of the responsibility, and the year after you could safely say he's been at the club long enough to deserve full credit (or blame) for where we're sitting on the table.
Des Hasler's first three seasons looked like this:
2004 Finished 13th (out of 15 teams)
2005 Finished 8th (belted 46-22 in week 1 finals)
2006 Finished 5th (lost 25-18 in week 1 finals, smashed 28-0 in week 2)
The year after that they came 2nd and lost the grand final and the year after that they were premiers.
