Yeah there was also an article with quotes from him saying he was keen on staying another year but there's been no mention of any deal being done yet.

Thought Poore was still unsigned but Fui had been extended?

If we're only looking at signing a bloke for a year while we wait for Tamou (or whoever) to come off contract, then it will probably be Fui. A player Poore's age is little chance of signing a one year deal.

I'd like to see Poore stay around. It's just a matter of whether the club's valuation of him matches his own, and whether other clubs are willing to pay more than we are.

Ah Greg Bird??

Do we really want a merkin like that at this club?

Sorry, I want to be successful, but not by bringing a guy like that here.

The guy is a great player, but let's not sign him because he was found NOT GUILTY of a crime.

I think anyone considering making a bid for him would be mad not to assess the risk of him getting in some sort of trouble (similar or otherwise). Regardless of the outcome of his court case, some might feel that he's a greater risk than a randomly selected good player....and that becomes one of many factors relevant to the decision.

Apart from the one thing which, once again, he was found not guilty of, when has he ever been in major trouble?

He is a grub & a stuart protege but the only reason we should not sign him is because he will be 30 years old when his contract finishes & will be coming to us as a 31 year old.

Technically he was found guilty, sentenced to prison and had that verdict overturned on appeal. He also pleaded guilty to public mischief. The undisputed facts of the case are not heart-warming. He admitted lying to police several times, and in particular to concocting a story saying that his totally innocent mate Brent Watson had assaulted his girlfriend. Is that the sort of bloke you want backing you up?

Oh yeh, he went before the courts on a totally separate assault charge in 2010, but was cleared b/c the other party was undoubtedly the aggressor (and a nutter).

And then he got arrested by the QLD cops last year (?) for failing to obey a police instruction, but was released without charge (he reckons it was a joke, the police say otherwise).

I didn't say not to sign him....I said there's enough smoke to make you think twice.

I agree he is a loose cannon and it would be no suprise to wake up one morning to news that he'd been locked up for something or other.. He beat the assault charge because his girlfriend refused to give evidence against him and came up with a exculpatory version at Birds appeal. One that mirrored the version provided by Bird. Why not just provide that version a his hearing before he was sentenced to gaol. Hardly means he didn't do it.

Add that to the fact that he'd be thirty one by the time he got here, so I hope we pass. Tamou on the other hand would be a massive coup.

Fui should have only been given a one year extension imo. Stuart should have kept his options more open for 2014.

Greg Bird is exactly what we need, a player the opposition hate playing against and in your face.

He would be one of the few players we have entitled to the long service discount - I doubt he is taking up much of our cap.
