I liked Hassett's single half a game in first grade but surely the club would like a bigger sample size before making such a call.

Starting to get a sinking feeling that 2020-2024 was more of a fluke than some deep fundamental change in how the club is ran.

I imagine Fifita playing the Panthers and Roosters last year has damaged his stock with most clubs.

If he's willing to f**k over Uncle Nick and the three peat premiers he rug pull any team.

I don't like having to take on his contract $$$. Unless the Titans are tipping in plenty. He just signed a new deal last year. If we take Fifita we take the baggage and his overpriced/lengthy deal.

50% effort Fifita inside Blaize is getting us something like Kikau back in the day. Made life a lot easier for Luai with such a huge target next to him.

I can handle it if hes just a casualty of the salary cap. Every player has a market rate, and part of Garners value to the squad is that hes not on a whole lot. If other clubs are offering a lot more its a very different calculation. I would note that thats not how its being reported though.

Its easy to say we should be tougher on letting players leave when its in their interests but not ours, but I dont agree, at least not in most cases. Having a reputation for treating players better than your competitors provides a huge range of benefits that are hard to quantify. We lose that at our peril.

4 premierships silly yes. We haven't got many wrong. I'm not very worried about how we handle Garner.

I'm only guessing bur the club must be thinking Armstrong and/or Clarke as the replacements. The club rates both of them very highly and I could see Clarke taking on that utility role.

Its smart business for Garner though. He will be 30 in september, probably been taking less to stay here. Probably got a good reminder so far we arent going to win a premiership every season. If he is taking his chance to get a bigger contract then fair enough, i think its something we can potentially work with and something we shouldnt stand in the way of if it is coming from him.

unpopular but id be moving on Sorro and Papali'i before Garner - Garner offers more versatility and actually performed the best of the 3 this season and is probably the cheapest of the lot, we'd have enough to increase his contract and keep him happy as well as increase Clarke/Hassett & Armstrong so they dont get picked off before they play NRL

yes Sorro had an awesome game winning tackle - but thats about it this season
Paps had some good games but nothing elite - not exactly warranting the big money he would have got to come here

Garner occupies a different spot in the squad than Papalii, who can actually play in the middle. Same applies to Sorro to a degree as well.
