From my perspective we should have retained Diane Laurie as our back up fullback. I’m not yet 100% the youngsters are the real deal, but the brains trust are in a better position to judge so it is what it is.

Looking at all the stuff from this thread you'd have to assume the salary cap is completely melted. It's very strange.

Unless we have a FB that can hit the ground running eg Jye Gray, Bula ,Iongi we might be in the shit.

A few journalists close to the club have said 2026 is very tight.
Positions 26-30 may well be filled by juniors.

Ivan played maybe 10 worse fullbacks than Moyza before playing him. He didn't know what he had at all
I'd say Ivan was more concerned with picking defensive players over attack.
He always says that defence wins premierships.
Moylans defence wasn't the best but he sure could create a try when needed.
They almost made the GF in 2014 with Moylan, so I'd say Ivan knows what he is doing.

I like the cogger deal now we know it’s a 2 year deal .The club has signed a lot of young halves .That time frame is about right if there good enough to step up

Would only be 1-2 years but two new franchises incoming. He isn't hot property but Perth and PNG will have big problems with recruitment. A guy like Cogger will be a likely target.

Works in our favour if they want to throw bigger money at him. They might chip a small amount in to take him away early.

You realise that you have to perform across the entire season right. It’s not just about the GF.

Ben Hornby played for NSW and Australia.

Mitchell Pearce played for NSW

Matt Orford won a Dally M

these aren’t things that average players do.

You are talking up Chad like he had a great year that year. He was average, he has always been average. He got hooked in finals game that year that is how average he is. There are a lot of standard average 7s who couldve swapped with Chad and the sharks still win that year. Not even sharks fans think he was good that year, talking him up as above average nrl halfback is crazy work.

Shit team. Shit pack. Shit coach. 100 different halves combinations. No good half next to him. Way too much responsibility placed on him as a depth level player. Played well for us in 2023. Imagine Brad Schneider in a shit setup.

I could go on but I think you get the point.
A fine signing as a backup. Anything more than that is ridiculous.

And that is all he is.

The 14 debate will rage on but I find it an overdone topic. If Cogger finds himself on the bench round 1 then I'd put the attention on the other players in the top 30 who should be gunning for the job.

Not uncommon for someone to impress in the pre-season and make the jump.

As far as fourteen goes you'd hope Cole is using his offseason to improve his game.

He should spend some time with a Union coach to work on his dummy half passing.
