What with Bret Stewart re-signing for a further three years, massive upgrading of DCE and Keiran Foran's contracts one has to wonder ...

Do Manly have to conform to the salary cap contrainsts??? Or do they magically have a higher salary cap then all the other teams???

DCE will be close to 500k even if its not this season.

Assume Trex would command 400k+

Add internationals like Watmough, G Stewart and Lyon who would have big contracts. Doesn't leave much left over.

T Rex is their 3rd choice back rower. No chance he will get that much to stay. He might be thinking stay with Manly for the year he has on his contract and enter the market after the new TV deal and likely major cap boost are sorted out. By the time 2014 rolls around he could be a SOO and test regular and command even more $$$.
You have to assume that some of the off contract players are thinking about taking unders to stay in a strong team though.

It's not so much what's left over as how much extra they can get in. And they are the premiers so hangers on will be coming out the woodwork to add some 3rd party dollars.

The way Dave has been charging in lately is not like a player who has his future sorted the way he wants it. It screamed of someone wanting Maguire to make him an offer.

Gun U20's 2nd rower for the Raiders, Michael Chee Kam, is reportedly about to sign with the Sea Eagles. He was brought up as a centre but has transitioned to the 2nd row. Most Raiders fans rate him pretty highly so it's a good signing for Manly.
