Welcome back to 2004 when that was said by Malcolm Noad. That said, the club at the time was very much of that type.

But all clubs buy players. You can't develop them all. There will always be gaps. Even the Panthers who are producing juniors in spades buy players, Blaze Talangi anyone?

I do like your monkier "85 baby" celebrating when the Bulldogs won the comp. Good stuff!!
We pay unders, Blaize came to Penrith for less money than Parra were offering.

I wasn't saying anything other than even the Panthers who have loads of juniors buy players. What they cost you is beside the point. I feel he left for an opporunity to win a comp. Pretty nice to be told you will be playing next to Cleary.

AOB to Gus: Let’s see what I can do for your attack. Do you have a specialist hooker?

Gus : Nope. . He got punted.

AOB: What about a specialist halfback?

Gus: Nope. We let him go.

AOB : What about a specialist fullback?

Gus: Nope. Connor was a winger at the Sharks but we converted him into a fullback.

AOB: What about a specialist five-eighth?

Gus: Nope. We bought Burto when he was a centre at the Panthers and converted him into a makeshift five-eighth.

AOB: OK then. An alpha prop?

Gus:Nope.
But what about star recruit Lachie Galvin?

AOB: Never heard of him. I’d get Strawberry Milkshake on the phone but I think he’s blocked my number.

Diane Laurie would be a useful pick up . Has good utility value . Could play anywhere in the backline at a pinch .Wing’s probably his weakest spot .

I’m surprised that coach Bellamy persisted with NAS for the past 2 years. Seemed to be on the outer 2 years ago and put on a fair bit of extra weight. He gradually improved his fitness but he just hasn’t adjusted to the high contact interpretation. Just reluctant to lower his point of contact. Doesn’t seem to have enough game awareness. I mean elbowing Simpkins in the head before he played the ball resulted in Grant’s try against Manly being disallowed and ultimately cost the Storm the game. Also launched himself like a missile making a tackle resulting in Meaney breaking his jaw. Bellamy must have been impressed with his work ethic though to keep giving him chances.

ah, I grabbed the Maori stats. Either way, that is still better than any other middle the Bulldogs have on the books this year apart from Max King. That's pretty damning in itself. So he is an upgrade after having a down year at the knights where everybody looked crap.

He averaged 104 in 2024. So that seems to be what he will add to the Bulldogs. I think the next best we have currently was around 77m a match. So that's an upgrade either way.
If he is the Dogs best middle in 2026 and they had to pay $800K to get him then that is some pretty dire stuff

Who knows what someone got paid these days. Plenty of stuff is made up by journo's. What 3rd parties are included in that price. Dogs don't have anybody on a million a season, which allows us to do stuff like this. I doubt we can keep Kikau after this season, as I suspect the Bears will throw him too much money.

But that all said, decent middles cost money if you want to buy off the market. We have plenty we are developing and hopefully we start a production line. It's not like we haven't invested a motza to buy as many decent juniors as possible to kickstart it.

Ehh the Dogs much flaunted development aint as good as they go about. Gould stacks teams with full aged players to try and win comps, whereas most other clubs move their good players up. This was seen in 2023 when they literally dropped players theyd been using in first grade back to Jersey Flegg so they could brag about winning the comp and how good their pathways were going. The interesting part is 2 years later and only 2 of that Premiership winning squad are still with the club.

I’d be watching every Warriors game with a back three of Bula , Fuller and KP . Add Metcalfe and the Warriors forwards and stir lightly and you have yourself a winning recipe.

Ok. This is what I think is happening. Bulldogs sign AOB (manager Moses). The sweetener is Bula (manager Moses)gift wrapped to the Dogs in 2027. Rumblings start via random journalist that Bula is unhappy at the Tigers for (insert whatever reason). Bula decides to go to the Dogs for less money as he wants to play with a more competitive team. He might even get a release to the Bulldogs before the June 30 deadline next year. Sounds somewhat familiar .

I think it's probably the right time for the club if Bellamy chooses to finish up at the Storm next season. It'd be a shame to see him coach another club but at least it'd only be the Titans. Would actually be excited to see what he could do up there.

However, not a great look by the Tits overall tbh.
