They told me the reason he requested a release was to show solidarity with Trent Barrett after he was let go (they are family friends). Apparently he was not too happy about that. I agree gang tackles diminish the game as a spectacle. I remember watching a game in the pub in Melbourne and my Victorian mate said it would’ve been good to watch if there weren’t so many shitmerkins coming in late to tackle merkins around the legs. Looking at Luai last night, maybe it’s a sign of what Dylbro could look like at the Knights, thrust into a playmaking role with a similar player outside him, which really doesnt suit. Luai and Galvin are both 6s and work better in a structure where they run when in possession.

As Luai did, Dylbro may take the money that’s on offer but possibly at the risk of a good career. Hopefully that doesn’t bite us next week, but just sitting on Luai and not offering much space to Galvin might be the key to controlling the outcome.
