So you're saying Benji would have been better equipped to improve Tallyns issues than Ryles, even allowing as you say, he hasnt improved over his previous period under Benji?
I quite enjoy your input but it appears in this instance you are arguing both sides against the middle here Tigpie 5150.
No I’m not saying Benji would have been better than Ryles. I am saying he would have learned more from Api than any of them

New shoes he was hard to wear, he also went through a fair few clubs as a player. 5 from memory.
And 5 as an assistant or consultant. Currently assisting the dragons to a spoon.
The best players don’t always make the best coaches, seemingly good analysts (if you want to call him that) don’t translate into good coaches either.

Like Moses when he left us to join the Tigers. "They didn't want me" is player code for "They didn't match the top offer".
JDB was 100% let go by Dragons and wouldn't be on much coin for us.

He's a value signing in that he wouldn't be on much relative to other experienced NRL forwards, we haven't tied ourselves down to a lengthy contract like the Dragons did with Gutho and it's testament to what a top bloke Ryles is which sets the tenor for the squad and club.

If his last year at the Dragons he was on 300K then that's the top dollar for us given we wouldn't sign him on longer.

<300K and given we have plenty of cap space and we need 1) a big body 2) experience and 3) a hardened attitude JDB is more than worth it.

Would also add for the anti-Mon brigade of which I have no dog in the fight JDB coming to Eels is 100% on Ryles just like BA set the parameters of the squad during his tenure.

Someone on here that should have known better asked the other day what juniors have we produced in the last decade who are standouts.

1) Ethan Sanders - heir apparent to Ricky at Raiders. I wish we kept him and blame 100% BA
2) Blaize Tailagi - getting better in defense under the greatest coach in my lifetime
3) Haumole Olakau'atu - could have been an Eels legend
4) Stefano Utoikamanu - ditto

These should have been at our core retention in the last decade. Hopefully, Brown and co can right this ship.

I raised it and it was more what juniors have we produced and kept in first grade.

Hence why I said Sam Tuivati..

Btw on Sanders the Raiders picked up Cody Black who was a stand out in the under 19s SOO for QLD so not sure Sanders is the heir apparent.

Cheers mate, I love your contributions and sorry if I disparaged you I regret that and thought it was someone else.

"what juniors have we produced and kept in first grade." yes! It angers me how we let this four go.

We should be a powerhouse club every where you go people love the blue and gold yet we don't reward them for the loyalty just like we let insane levels of talent walk out the door for very little.

People on here were shitbagging the re-signing of Guymer.

I look him up and he represented NSW in under 19s.

We have this gap between our junior sides and our senior sides where they talented juniors just dont continue to develop.
