Rumours and Stuff

In what circumstances could a player return if he hadn't previously played for the club before?

Someone that got injured? But really, I am just emphasising the point. The comma is a continuation, not a new topic. It's called being conversational and is a good way to get people interested.

For example:

The girl I saw at the bus stop today was beautiful, really attractive.
I went to the beach today and it was very hot, absolutely scorching.

Get it

I have another alleged scoop. There is a player returning to Parramatta soon, that has played here before. You won't believe who it is... the reliable source I got it from tells me that there is an announcement coming in the next few days. Stay tuned. Also if we don't get this player there is going to be a shock signing of a CURRENT ORIGIN PLAYER because we will be in a better position to afford him

Oooo its very exciting!! Please do keep us updated as news comes to hand!!

Those sentences attempt to actually raise the level of the original point even further with the use of an adjective though, as you indicated from your last point.

Saying a player is returning to the club and that they played here before doesn't raise the level of information, it just says the same thing at the same level.

Hi Bazal

Believe it or not people don't go back and meticulously correct everything once it has been typed every time. It still makes senses and may have been a bit repetitive, but people do repeat themselves in a conversational style.

Whoa, whoa, whoa....I'm all for healthy ribbing, Swifty, but that's beyond the pale.

I at least have a sense of humour ffs. Poor old Chipmunk is as dry as a public school sao.

Well I will leave you to argue the toss with your mate Bazal in any case...
