Akauola is more of a back rower and I think Penrith would let him go. I reckon it's Kikau. He'd be a great signing, but sounds like it's not gonna happen

Of the three I'd prefer Tamou. Paulo is the best attacker but he would make Vave redundant which isn't smart cap management. I can't see how Blair would get $500k for longer than a one year deal. Even Tamou wouldn't get much more than that. Paulo is worth about $500k but unlike the other two you have to cover him in defence. Plus he doesn't have huge finals and rep experience.

I'd have Tamou if Penrith chipped in. BA seems like the kind of coach that could get him firing consistently again. Not at full freight though, they gave him big money and he's not living up to it.

I hear that we are after some young Penrith prop and he wants to come but has asked for a release as he is under contract. Wasn't told the name. To keep him the Panthers are willing to let James Tamou go and may supplement some of his salary.

Potentially. But Latu would potentially be on almost that anyway so you'd think you'd rather keep the slightly overpaid rep level player (especially with the cap increasing he becomes less overpaid) and see if he can get back to his best. Blokes like Latu aren't quite a dime a dozen but there are plenty around. Tamou at his best is up there in the second tier of middle forwards. I just can't see it myself.

Kikau only re-signed for two years in April, so I can see why the Panthers wouldn't be keen to offload him. He is clearly in their plans.
