Yeah, and how many of these bigger forwards are good defensively anyway? I can only think of Bromwich and Woods, and both are actually quite lean. JWH is good too when he's skinny. Klemmer and Fifita aren't too bad but not as good as most of our blokes. All five would be on massive coin.

And meanwhile the best team in rugby league dominates Origin with middle forwards no bigger than Parra's.

We do have a lot of cap space tied up in our 80 minute players.

Paul Vaughan goes alright too defensively, can't believe we didn't talk to him!!

Good point about QLD, shows if you hold the ball and have a good spine you generally win!!

There was a plethora of good large middle forwards available, Packer, Woods, Kasiano, Graham, Matalino just to name a few. It appears as if BA just didn't want to spend the money and went for cheapies in Evans and She-Rex. Now they may work out but their form over the last few years has been average at best. We may have to promote from within from our U20s, bring into main squad Dressler and Kaufasi (I've not seen them play but heard good reports) and Faingaa. All are a good size and are skilful. Once they have a full pre-season under their belts they may be ready for fg.
Matulino and Packer were only ever signing for Cleary.
Woods' plan was to end up at Dogs with his bestie Teddy.
When we signed Evans, Kasiano was another Vave which we didn't need another of. Yet to be seen how he goes without the weight he had last year.
Graham would have cost too much for most clubs except the Dragons who had heaps of money.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Vaughan. Not a bad defender either, but also not particularly big.

A good kicking game and smart use of the ball in attack (i.e. not 'Parraball') can more than compensate for lack of huge plodders rolling through the middle.

Plus I'd say Graham is in their side for his experience and leadership as much as for his diminishing on-field ability.

Aslong as we have a good 1,6,7,9 I think we remain competetive.
Gutherson,Norman,Moses and we need a hooker and it keeps us competetive for years to come.
I think King goes ok. Not sold on him yet.

Evans may work out just fine. So may Vave who looks fit

I have boned the one on the left. True story.

Part of me wants to pat you on the back and part of me wants to LOL@you and clip you across the back of the head for not hanging on to her Clint Newton style.
