Rumours and Stuff

Did you not enjoy the game as a spectacle? Regardless of the outcome, I thought it was very entertaining.

It was entertaining for sure. But not high quality for the most part. As one of the commentators said, "You can see why both these teams are where they are; they're both really struggling."

Still, for the most part I enjoyed the ball movement and desperation. I don't begrudge the Dogs for taking the two points. They earned it.

Certainly. There were some exciting moments. French's 'sommersault try", Moses' run (Moses really tried to take charge of the team last night. I like this kid.) Michael Jennings did some exciting stuff, and his brother played soundly again. The kicking from the halves was very good for the most part. And Takairangi was great to watch. I prefer him in the centres.

I can see us winning games once statistically we won’t be playing finals footy. Our confidence is shot and when we have nothing to lose we might scare a few teams. However, Any wins after we lose 2 or 3 more games are completely irrelevant. 2018 is unacceptable

I'd suggest we have nothing to lose right now. Why wait two or three weeks? Start blooding some new players and start playing with gay abandon now. Have some fun at least.

I dont think its BAs nature.
While theres life theres hope and all that. Selecting Matagi last night after his diabolical performance last week gives a reasonable indication of BAs mindset. No doubt Matagi will again be given preference over a rookie next week.
If I was BAs young bloke and Dad remains as coach, Id be looking to change clubs cause there is no way he would ever get a call up when he is ready. Best to purchase a cheapie and stick with him regardless.
Thats probably a bit nasty but goodness its all a bit hard to understand at the moment.
Gee Vae killed it last night as well.

If we come last, do you sack him or not?

It won't just be a case of if we come last but also the manner in which we come last. There'll be other factors. Do the players still have confidence in him? Does he have a viable recruitment plan, moving forward? I think if he can snare a very good recruitment (hopefully a forward) before the end of June it will help him. Or if our performances improve. One thing that might save him is the reluctance for the club to be seen as a sacker of coaches.

I would like us to go for both Matt Lodge and Tevita Pangai Jr. I wouldn't be going for Oats. He is an untested backrower in the NRL. Why would we pay top dollar that has a dream as opposed to a tried and tested and proven NRL quality backrower?

What if he fails to achieve his dream and is plum ordinary as a backrower? Then we are stuck with a player that we are paying top dollar to play wing where he may not be to happy doing so. He is a gamble. I have had enough of those types of top money gambles.

Niukore plays on an edge .... im sure he has plonked in the middle at times, but he has played predominantly on an edge for

We arent actually struggling for edge players .... although having said that i am starting to question what kenny is offering

Dont get me wrong, matagi is mostly plop but i dunno if niukore slots in for him

We have only sacked one coach . That was Daniel Anderson. The rest either quit or we didn’t renew their contract. The false assertion that we sack coaches is media propaganda.

Vai was great, wasn't he? Give him two or three years to get fit, and he'll be a match winner for sure. I get your point about BA. Some people fight to the bitter end, don't they. Don't know when to give up ( or change course). It could well be his undoing

Okay, let's do it then. (Just kidding. Or am I?) Trouble is this media propaganda might still be enough to deter TPA's, player managers, prospective recruits, etc. I don't know. BA is walking a tight rope though. He had a dream, which was to be a ten year head coach.at Parra. Well, he's half way through his fifth year, so he's done alright for himself.

Semantics. Coach and club parted company.

For what its worth, I think BA and club will part company at the end of this year. 5 years is a good spell and BA hasn't delivered. The club will want to be seen to be making changes.

I hope we don't just lift our skirt for anyone though. We need to recruit a top notch team of head and assistant coaches.

I hope so. The head coach will select his own assistants though.

True. I just hope that a discussion about what the coaching team would look like forms part of the initial recruitment for the head coach.

Assistant coaches are arguably just as important as the head coach.

I would let Edwards go at the end of his contract or sooner if possible. He has been given every chance. In fact the only forwards I would definitely keep are Mau, Mannah, Alvaro and (probably) Tepai. Add someone like Matt Lodge and then we need a very high quality player like Fifita, Graham, to lead them in to battle. Jury is still out on Evans, but it doesn"t look good.

I’m sure it would.

We are now seeing the effects of how important assistant coaches are (due to our lack of them in the pre season)

We get some players back from injury we'll be going a lot better.

We're getting belted through the middle Pou so tell us, which players coming back will make us better than bog average pack

Mannah - wouldn't make any other NRL starting side

Evans - as above also dropped to wenty for his efforts. Signing of the decade - 3 years fmd. incredible

Williams - as above

Kaysa - as above, a defensive liability

Brown - huge heart, but used as a battering ram and it's no wonder he always looks busted. Playing behind a non dominant pack.

Get real Pou. You're full of hot air and you've lost all credibility with your daily dribble ;)
