In this instance, I think Hiney has a point. Kaysa has a very consistent record of significant injuries that keep him off the field for protracted periods. Planning to go into a season with him as 1 of 2 NRL hookers, and the other being a kid was abnormally risky.

Yes BA may have dropped the ball or was it his medical staff that got the prognosis wrong ?

What a mess! We let King go, and then can't get anyone else. But wait, Pritchard has issues, but is still part of out top 30.

What about the BS rumour about McInnes from the Dragons?

Why on earth chase McIlrick? Says a lot about the ability of our recruitment/retention committee.

McIlwrick is good enough that if we need him to play a game here and there it won't hurt us drastically, but he's also not good enough to take time away from Reed who is the possible future long-term hooker of the club. Then a 2 year deal means that if Schneider is physically ready then McIlwrick becomes our #3 hooker.

Signing Luke or McInnes would've meant that Reed becomes our #2 hooker for those 2 years.

Actually looking at hooker depth for each NRL squad, there really isn’t much experience there. Most don’t have a lot of depth in the position.

Even sides like Souths/Roosters have fairly average journey man as back ups in Gavey/Mcillrick.

Pritchard is probably as good if not better then most of the back up hookers at other clubs.

Also what hooker should we have signed during the last 6 months to give us some depth (or since peat’s has left)? There haven’t been that many available.

Also we have been linked to a few hookers for this year (Luke’s, McInnes, jacks - can potentially play hooker, Lichaa, segeyaro, Brailey, parcel), even before Pritchard’s leave. So the club has been trying.

I'm not blaming any individual. Collectively, we took a big risk and thus far doesn't look like paying off. But we'll see, maybe someone will come on the market in a hurry?

Think McIIwrick can also play in the middle (lock) so wouId add some options to the bench rotation if BA used him as a 14.

Exactly. People need to look at other teams 2nd option hooker before bagging ours.

Before last year we got 16 games out of him, two years running. The bloke is only in his mid-20s. Why wouldn't we expect him to recover from his injury and be ready to give us another half season?

Well Hiney was far from alone to be fair.

We've needed a genuine hooker since we shafted Peats

So he needed his medical staff to tell him he may be an injury risk with injury record???

Yep you can’t help it when your medical staff drop the ball and bad luck...........

Agree. Might as well not have medical staff at all. What would they know ?

My point really is that you don't know what went down with Kaysa. The only thing you do know is how to blame BA or our club for everything.

This is only speculation. But its possible they just didn't want Kaysa due to some attitude or off field situation. We do know he was on the piss the night Hayne allegedly raped some girl and we also know he hangs with C.Norman who apparently is a clown. So maybe his choice in company doesn't sit well with club.

Or it may just be he has been told his body isnt up to Nrl and will effect him in later life. Best too think about future. We wont be signing you for 2020 and most likely at best you may end up a back up hooker at another club.

Stevie Wonder could see Kaysa is made of glass and a huge injury risk. Has he finished a season since his debut???

In a squad of 29 atm we have one dummy half in the squad who has played 7 games and f**king Will Smith. Nothing is ever BA’s or the clubs fault it’s just bad luck and those pesky medics.

Particularly considering he was injured at the time of re-signing.

Probably the point here is that the coaching staff have a higher opinion of Will Smith than most of us do on here, and consider that he is a suitable alternative. Geez, maybe he and Kaysa were in competition for the spot and Kaysa staying down is actually a relief to them and not a drama.

Gee if true you really have to ask some questions about the coaching staff......

And Smith is still here in 2020

As a non Smith fan, I doubt that's even remotely true.

If it was they wouldn't be looking at every other hooker in the world.

I'd say they saw Smith as a backup utility who can cover 1,6,7,9 and Kaysa as a second hooker

Well I don't know if it's true, I'm just theorising based on what we can see from the outside. Kaysa has been injured all preseason, that's been known for months and months.

Are we though? We let Cam King go. He would've been fine for what he would cost. The talk about Isaac Luke seems to have been just that or at best we had a quick look and backed out quickly. There has been rumours about a couple of others, like Levi from the Knights, but I would wonder if he would have even been an upgrade on Smith.
