Of all the halves coming on to the market who is? Most of them are terribly overrated.
Well yeah, the big halves on the open market thing will be a bit of a myth tbh ... i reckon most will stay put

I think maybe Reynolds while not great is more a game winner ... Moses should turn into a game winner, but i dont see him leaving the tigers, its basically his team now

Which is why I think we stick with Guth and Norman in the halves next year. It will give us time to assess whether Guth can really become a consistent 1st grade half or whether we need to go all out for a top line half in 2018.

So would we tie up our "key player" money in him or wait it out for a true top line half? ... i dont see us doing both - we would end up just like the current titans ...So getting roberts to me says you are happy with him for a period of time .... I dont see him as a go to guy - ive seen a few titans games when they need a merkin to step up in the dying stages and he just isnt that sort of player

To be fair, in a few games he HAS stepped up and won it for them
But why pay Tyrone more than 350k?
Isnt Norman our topline go to guy? Just needs a sidekick to kick, organise and take some pressure off.

With you if he wants 750k, no way. But 2 years at 350k each year? If we are lucky enough to snag a top line half, then with the way things work we could surely offload Roberts somewhere?!?

Norman is our 'go to guy'.

Dargan named nsw cup halfback of year. Plenty say he isnt ready or suggestions wont cut nrl.
Perhaps coaching staff think differently and see him in our side by 2018? I guess forty 20 would have a better idea of our long term view.
He wasnt in the top 20 for missed tackles in the comp either so his defense must be ok for a half

The quote on Dargan from someone at the club

Cleary at Penrith was not outstanding at SG Ball but improved as he moved up the ranks and played with more experienced players around him. At NRL he has blossomed, We may see that with Dargan or Fogarty, we want to see how they develop

I reckon Semi could do it.

Have him loitering in the middle of the field.

Pass the ball to Norman who fires it to Semi.

No one would expect it.

He is our only 100% success rate goal kicker right?

Don't forget French apparently also has good playing making skills, thus with Norman in the halves whoever is his partner doesn't really need to be a "complete" half. Just someone that can support French / Norman.

I'd rather sign re-sign Robbo and see how Dargan and Fogaty go in 2017 than throw stupid money and Tyrone Roberts or Hodgkinson (sp) on a 3 or 4 year deal (which is what they will want).Same goes with Sam Williams who apparently wants a "multi year deal".

Between Norman, Roberts, French, probably Guthbus, we'd have the options.

Besides, a field goal under pressure is more about the set up. Give a good set up and most NRL players can kick a droppy (see I Hindmarsh and N Cayless). A poor set up and even the best will miss most of the time

Dargan needs time to develop and might turn out alright but no where near ready for NRL yet.

Williams is ok, nothing special. He'd do a consistent job.
Robson is well past his best and his best was never that good. If he is anywhere near first grade for us that will be a problem.
Roberts is very hot and cold, can have a great game but will then have four or five average games. Goes missing too much, that's why Newcastle did not want to keep him.
Brodie Croft from Melbourne looks promising.

You need to think about the role these players play. Newcastle needed someone to partner Mullen whereas we only need someone to partner Norman.

The Titans won't release Roberts until they know how Elgey returns from injury. If he becomes available IMO it won't be until just before June 30 next year. Cullen has signed with Manly so they will keep Taylor, Elgey and Roberts to start the season.

Kelly / Cornish / robbo will probably be worth only second tier contracts, so offer them one each. It's not like other clubs are going to offer them a top 25 spot.

Williams is probably worth a bit more.

I'd say with big Max cutting the football department budget, the days of BA having a 40 man squad is over and so is carrying 4 halves on second tier deals.

Not necessarily. They could be contracted to Wentworthville instead. Most clubs would struggle without at least a 40 man squad. The spending cuts relate to the management side of things for mine.
