Rumours and Stuff

I like people saying it. It shows courtesy and I don't thinks its clear on the social medias that everybody realises they are just expressing an opinion. Increasingly people seem to think they are talking gospel truth.

Yeh, it's a bit like science. Einstein famously proclaimed 'In my opinion, energy produced is equal to the mass times the square of the speed of light, but I could be wrong'. Or Schroedinger who opined 'My f**king cat will not stop pissing off Pavlov's dog, I might stick him in a box and never know whether he's alive or dead'.

I just ate a big dinner so I am too thick to know if I am on the receiving end of this post or not.

Well that's fine. It's up to us to support our own opinions with facts and analysis. If other people don't want to do the same that's their business. They won't convince anybody.

That's my opinion anyway.

Unfortunately my faith in BA has diminished over the years. In the past 7 years he has got us to the finals twice for 1 win. Every year the team gets flogged at least once and the team slumps to poor losses for at least 3 concessive games. And our team won the wooden spoon during his tenure. This year the slump has lasted 2 months.

This year our roster is the best since 2001 and we are a genuine top 8 team, but have yet to look likely to make the gf. The common denominators for the last few years, besides BA, is the attack and defensive coaches. D has been problematical for years and the current problems with the Blakes yet to be sorted. Attack has been up and down over that time. Throughout that time BA has shown a reluctance to replace poor or under-performing players to the detriment of the team, and to persist with tactics that are not working for significant lengths of time. Few players coming here greatly improve their performances. For every player that improves there are more that fail to improve or even regress. We still fail to produce quality juniors each year with Dylan Brown being the only one since probably Junior Paulo. Not qualities that make for a great coach.

After last weeks loss BA's presser doesn't give me any confidence things will improve. 'For me it’s an easy fix. We go back to owning our effort areas and go back to being a team that is willing to build a game'. Unless he's been completely blind, Parra has been playing poorly for the last 2 months, and has yet has to be fixed.

Comparing BA with Bellamy and Robinson, their teams are always competitive, slumps are for 1 game, they improve their players and they play finals each year. As BA keeps changing his conditioning staff, and the teams fitness has improved, its time for BA to change his attack and defensive coaches. They have not been working and fluctuate up and down each year. There is not a sustained quality of performance each year. That needs to improve, but don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen.

Is it really a slump if you are winning?

it’s been 12 months since we’ve lost consecutive games and that term will increase if we beat the Warriors which we should.

we’d all love to be smashing teams and playing pretty, but is anyone going to whinge if we win the remaining games in the regular seasons, the finals and win the premiership with the games all being 14-12? Or 18-14? Or 8-6?

Great post mate. He definitely needs to change the assistant coaches. It is way over due. They have been shocking to say the least. This team is more then just a contender if the coaching was high quality. Sadly our average coach has surrounded himself with average support staff and he fills comfortable in it.

He will find it very hard to change his ways now and even if he did I don't have the confidence that he will bring in the quality that we need to really fix our teams problems long term. The guy has a very basic mentality and I don't think he likes change much. He will just look for more of the same because in his mind we are going ok and just need a little tweaking.

I mean did you guys see his NRL 360 interview? He was going round in circles in the way he was describing our defense and attack issues. He had no clue how to fix it. We are done and dusted as far as premierships go this year and probably for as long as he is head coach of our club. End of 2023 isn't it? Now let that sink in fellas.

I certainly wasnt filled with anticipation from his responses in both his interviews last night but at least he fronted up. That said I also remember our early season form when I was amazed at how fit, strong and enthusiastic we looked. In short we looked great. Our D was like Id not seen previously throughout BAs tenure.
Hes here for two more years. I just hope he gets that spark back because it was pretty to watch.

Yes of course we will be whinging if we were producing the above results because we would be watching crappy performances by our team and expecting the opposition will eventually put us out of our misery. That sort of football, the type that we have been playing for around two months is hardly confidence building stuff mate.

So if we finally won the title sure we would be ecstatic and rejoice, but it would have hardly have been a great ride along the way. But don't you worry about that ever happening because it never will.

Isn't it two more on top of his final year which was to be 2021, so now it takes it out to 2023?

Yes but our attack was still not right and as soon as all the other teams caught up on match fitness and worked out our game plan and we fatigued slightly then our attacking issues started to stand out. I have said all along that we were not using our back rowers and centres correctly. The lines our back rower run are non existent and when they try they get it wrong 90% of the time.

The rot all started from our limited attack. Fergo not scoring this year is a symptom of a massive issue in our attack. There needs to be a total revamp there. The front rowers are doing their job very well, but then it all goes pair shaped from there. Getting the back rower running and combining is the key. I bet my bottom dollar that our halves and back rowers have not spent around two hours extra at training at least once or twice a week or as long as it takes to get it right and become instinctive so when in game they know instantly what shapes and lines are needed on any given play. Watch the Roosters.

That is our main problem and it needs immediate and urgent addressing. But it won't happen because the coach doesn't even know and just wants to focus on our defense so we can beat teams by 2 points. But I don't think that anyone has told him that a good defensive team that is also a good attacking team will eventually thrash a good defensive team that can't put any real pressure on their opposition and allows them to be relatively fresh when they receive the ball.
