This is the quote from RCGs manager BTW.

In an interview with The Courier Mail’s Peter Bedel, Reagan Campbell-Gillard’s manager Mark Stewart has confirmed his client will be leaving the Parramatta Eels after 2022 in a bid to sign with the Dolphins.

“We’ve informed Parramatta that Reagan isn’t taking up his option for 2023,” said Stewart.

“I want to stress there is no issue with Parramatta.

“He is grateful for all the Eels have done to resurrect his career after leaving Penrith and we will be giving Parramatta every chance to keep him because he has really enjoyed his time at the club.

“We will go to the open market and clubs will want to speak to us come November 1, which brings a second Brisbane team into the equation.

JWH is rare. Most props have 3 or 4yrs at the very top and the rest are spent as good forwards that are easily replaced.

Look at Klemmer, Vaughn,JT as some recent examples. All on over 800k.
Even Josh Papali'i form has nose dived some what.

Papalii had 2 great seasons as a full time prop and that burnt the lazy bum out. Lets not all forget as good as Papalii has been at times during his career, he was always a fat and lazy merkin throughout it and would yoyo between form.

He was then moved to the frontrow permanently and blossomed with a stellar purple patch of form for a couple of years. But then this year he dropped of a freakin cliff. Will he regain that exceptional form consistently ever again? Who knows it is Papalii so anything is possible? But my money is against it.

Yes you're right. And now that I see Sivo is 28, I'm convinced we have seen the best of him.

And that he is recovering from an ACL, I tend to agree. I would try to offload him as quickly as possible. Especially if that would allow us to keep others that are more important to the team.

Maybe if he did get the extra cash from playing 3 SOO games this year, he wouldn't be so desperate to get a further bump in his salary?

Oh well, good luck to him. The career of a footballer is short.

Josh wasn't the same player again this year after Isaiah ran over the top of him in round 6.

You could say Isaiah broke his namesake

Of course, but it does allow a cheaper player with potential to replace him, giving us cash to strengthen another position

We know Ba loves the bash and barge game. If we lose Marata and RCG it’ll be a huge blow to our style. Not sure we can afford to lose both.

I’m hearing we have no major signings on the horizon, as I mentioned previously, we will have more than rcg and marata moving on, with not a lot to replace them, it’s next year or never !!! BA re signing looking like a colossal mistake, which most of us knew, other than the knobs in front office!
How does losing players prove that re-signing the coach was a mistake? Do you think any other coach could've kept every off-contract player? Every other coach loses players. That's how the salary cap works.

Why wouId it? We still have money to spend, we picked up RCG when we wanted a “big” middle and with $600k or so with RCG leaving, I am sure we could find another middle or strengthen another position……

We would have about 800k to spend thou based in what they are costing presently. Or if we kept RCG and Marata we would then be 750 + 400k down 1.15mill. Do you think we won't be chasing a few forwards to replace them? We would be able to get one very good prop imo and also a project player. Similar to what Marata was.

Again people are severely over rating Marata imo. Manu Mau and KE where bigger losses and we replaced them no sweat.

Yep. Niukore, Nrown and Papali'i came to us as nuffies. Campbell-Gillard was washed up. We need to buy low, sell high. Not a perfect metaphor but you know what I mean.

One thing I picked up from Joey Grima (high performance pathways) on various TCT podcasts is that players want to come to Parra now. Player managers are offering players to us and we don’t have to pay overs anymore.

So I’m not worried about losing RCG Marata or Sivo or even Dylan. I’m confident we can fill those holes and the days of signing Carl Webb and that Walker dick are long past.
