The irony here is that we will end up paying someone (or maybe two), the same amount Papali'i and Matterson left for who, who will be an inferior player. We've already likely already done the same with Hodgson for Mahoney.
Hodgson isn’t inferior to Mahoney. He’s just way riskier due to injuries/age.
But you gotta risk it for the biscuit!

The first to Guth was more than fair, when him and his management pulled the same BS we should of told him to shit in his boot and eat it. His form this year has been patchy. How slow is he going to be in 3 more years???
In three years he’ll be in the halves using his skills and his support play to get shit done.

I don't agree

We should pick our best side to win the comp as to me this is our best chance

Next year can be a rebuild year
I (kinda) don’t agree with BA on this. I think he’s being too generous (in a way) to the likes of Greig in trying to get his motor up to make him a more likely long term NRL player. That’s great for next few seasons or if there’s a long term injury, but it isn’t what we need this season. I’d be building him up as a high-energy, low-minutes impact that we can use now

Why would we pay more for lesser players? Is the club going to start doing things differently to how they did before?

Build him up then tear him down, then if there's time build him up again.

I tell yah what BA needs to start blooding some guys like Rodwell and el zakham.

Use your full 17 brad, start succession planing
It’s been said elsewhere that Rodwell would’ve got a go earlier but got himself suspended. I’m not sure how that would’ve worked but given he’s a development contract.
El Zakhem isn’t even development contract I believe.
Along with Greig, I’d be rotating them with Makatoa and Kaufusi, neither of whom have consistently grabbed their chances, particularly now we’re full strength. But now Origin rounds could either force their selection or rule them out (Makatoa/Kaufusi are “safer” selections)

If BA was looking at the futuer, he will probably go

4 Marata (no Opa)
14 JA

then
JA -> 6
Dyl -> 4
Marata -> bench

As most of u know I don’t make a lot of predictions, because quite frankly I’m not very good, and this is probably no surprise considering article today regarding RM, but I have heard he has all but signed with the Dolphins, in saying that wish him the best and send him on his way…..BUT there must be a forensic investigation in why we have let quality players go, with no apparent back ups, someone has to be accountable, as this is the reason we will continuely veiwed as a bit amateurish as a club , therefore not attracting the players top clubs can, basically lacking a tonne of professionalism!!

Maybe BA is looking to next year, that’s why Maka is getting picked each week and only getting small minutes at this stage …slowly developing him (yes I know he is well pass rookie age but still is inexperienced) for longer minutes next year …..

Beginning of the year basically no one here (think I did post something suggesting we should) wanted to keep Matterson (and nothing is confirmed yet), couple of weeks of good form and he is now a must keep…….

Gee we are lucky we don’t get to change the board every year or so …..

Anyhow yes I am concerned we are loosing forward experience and depth on the edge (not in particular the players), however until we have finalised our 2023 squad and played half season we don’t know what the right path is……..

additionally the potential signing of the panthers forward does suggest the club is following same path it has followed over the last few years successfully, signing players we can develop to perform above their contract….while also looking for an experienced forward…
