That coach won a comp in 2013 so he had Brownie points. He’s allowed to have one poor season. I’m sure if it didn’t work with Cronk then they would have changed the coach as well.

Making a grand final at the Eels takes more coaching skill than winning one with the Chooks' resources. In that case Arthur's has brownie points here too.

Tapping into the junior catchment, talent identification and retention, we have let many juniors and players go who have won premierships elsewhere

What the f**k has Nathan Brown done? And if he was that good why wouldn't he be at a wealthier club? There is no doubt in my mind that the best recruitment/retention staff are at Penrith/Brisbane/Melbourne/etc. Look how our junior 'development' (poaching) died in the arse when Cleal was poached by Manly. Then the merkins won two premierships.

Can’t agree with you on making a grand final at Parra taking more coaching skill. Smaller clubs than us have made grand finals in the last decade (Sea Eagles, Bulldogs, Raiders, Sharks, Cowboys).
I agree Brad Arthur does have brownie points from making the grand final.

Sea Eagles and Bulldogs were bigger (wealthier) clubs at the time. Cowboys are definitely a bigger club than we are. I would say the Raiders are smaller, and it's testament to Sticky's ability that they even make the finals, much less a grand final. I think Sharks are at about our level and they needed the stars to align the year they won the comp. Those aligned stars included 2016 being the only year in half a dozen where they weren't cheating. Lucky!
