Eels target former international dancer

The Eels are set to sign a former international hip hop dancer from the Titans who could prove a major surprise packet in 2017.

Rising centre Greg Leleisiuao is close to agreeing with the Eels after playing some great footy for the Titans in the past two seasons in the NYC.

The 20-year-old showed his class in last year’s Auckland Nines and has been knocking on the door of first grade selection for the past year.

Leleisiuao has quick feet – and not just on the football field.
For two straight years as a teenager, he flew to Las Vegas in the USA to compete against the best the world had to offer in the world’s biggest hip hop dancing contest.

Leleisiuao was born in New Zealand, has Samoan heritage and played his junior footy for Logan in Queensland.
Mark him down as an early dark horse for NRL selection in 2017.

It’s been a bad week for the Titans – they have lost two of their best prospects in Leleisiuao and Brian Kelly (Manly) as they balance their salary cap.
He played 10 games for the Gold Coast 20's in 2016 scoring 2 tries. Not sure if he played any Qld Cup last year but if he only managed 10 games in a struggling Titans team and wasn't injured I'm not sure how excited we should be about him.

Bought in as a post-try celebration specialist maybe?

Cheers Stagger. Be interesting to see how Matterson, Gafa, the Field brothers, Stowers, Miller and Chellenor develop over the next 12 months. And if Ualesi can break his one NRL game and get some time in first grade. Big ask as we have an excess of NRL experienced and talented young forwards.

Was picked in the Titans Nines squad last year and was strongly tipped to fill some of the places left by the departures of Mead, McDonald etc. He played strongly in the Nines butI believe that he injured his ACL last year.

Was a big part of their plans for this year and next after signing a new deal mid way through last year but I think you will find the arrivals of Proctor, Hayne, Peats and Hurrell forced him out in the same way that Brian Kelly and Jed Cartwright who along with Greg were tipped for first grade careers by the Titans and had signed extended deals prior to their release.

Semi Radradra's manager confirms future

The Parramatta Eels Rugby League Club have been advised by George Christodoulou, the manager of Semi Radradra, that Semi has accepted an offer to play rugby union for the Toulon Rugby Club for the 2017/2018 European rugby season, with an option for a second year being the 2018/2019 season. This option for the second season is in favour of Semi Radradra. The European rugby season operates from approximately August thru May.

Semi has a court appearance on 13 February 2017. As advised previously to Semi and his manager, Semi will fulfil his 2017 Playing Contract with the Parramatta Eels as the Club will not release Semi from his 2017 obligations to our Club; accordingly, the earliest Semi could commence at Toulon is early November 2017.

In early December 2016 the Parramatta Eels indicated our wish to keep Semi at our Club by making a very attractive offer to Semi for the 2017 (upgrade of existing contract), 2018 & 2019 NRL seasons.

The offer from Toulon was substantially higher than our Club’s offer. We look forward to Semi being a most productive member of the 2017 Parramatta Eels playing squad and then we wish Semi well in his rugby union venture with Toulon.

Bernie Gurr

Can't say it wasn't obviously coming. His manager has been trying to get the deal done for some time. Oh we, hopefully he is allowed play after his court appearance but if not I am confident the club is looking at replacements.

He needs to be shown the door now. This bloke will cause nothing but more distractions through out the season.

Semi is an all-time talent (although far from an all-time player) and I will miss his electrifying performances on the field but he and his manager have been a massive nuisance over the last 6 months. No qualms with him chasing the almighty dollar overseas (limited playing window and all that) but he went about it in close to the least professional manner possible.

Best we can hope for is that he helps jag us the title this year. Given his recent run of antics I suppose there is a lot worse that could happen though.

2017 shapes as a big year for the likes of George Jennings and Dane Aukafolau now.
