Flanno Signs his son to play in the halves moves his mate who he coached at the Sharks to centre.. He is definitely trying to get rid of Lomax probably because his contract is so much!
So how much do we offer to pay him out? On NRL360 Paul Kent revealed that Flanno had a one on one with Lomax and showed him that statistically he was the 22nd best centre in the NRL.

They can tip in 350 year one 250 year 2 150 year 3. I’ll take it.

That and/or marketing for their other business interests.
There’s been a big push in Vegas for sports teams because then it becomes an event destination to profit what Vegas do well, hotels and casinos.
Also 'sportwashing', which is apparently what goes in Saudi, Qatar, etc.

Saints would have to chuck in a good chunk every year.
Who is going to pay 800k for the 22nd best centre in the NRL?

Then moves him to the wing 🤔

I would offer them Matto and get them to pay 300k for Lomax

You'd think so.

Although being the 22nd best centre (statistically) is at least partly to do with the blokes playing inside (in both offense and defense). But yeh, they are going to have to kick in average of at least $200-250k per season if they are going to move him on. They're probably better off just keeping him

Cordner, Frizell, Crichton, Murray, Sims, Martin, Yeo, Jake T - lots of good players in Matto's position mate.
Oh and he plays for Parra.
Maybe so but at $600k Matto is not producing that price tag consistently.

Edit - No chance he will get that again at our club unless we win the comp and he has a stellar year.

Why doesn't he make rep teams consistently?
His personality doesn't fit in well with rep teams.

We all laugh at Jake Trbojevic getting picked all the time because he is a good bloke.

But in rep sides if you don't fit in with the group your always going to lose out on a 50/50 decision with another player who might bring a more positive energy to camp and gel better with team mates.

Someone like Gutho always lurking around the squads as a backup because his energy and enthusiasm is infectious.

Plus he'd have to be the most expensive bench player in the comp.
I dont get the bench player comment, especially with regard to forwards.
In the modern game it is rare to have a forward go the full 80 at the same level as when they start.
Sure there are players that can (and do) but it is just as common for your middles to be given a rest and you want someone of similar quality (or better) coming on when they do. It shouldnt matter whether they start on the bench or on the park, if they are in the top 17 then they get paid what they're worth.

And Matto off the bench can come into the middle or an edge as needed.
