Two ACLs in the off season wasn’t ideal. Both those players were highly rated. You’re not going to get a journeyman for the rest of the year to fill a spot, he will want next year as well. That f**ks the top 30 roster.

So they are holding out for their preferred long term guy and making do.

What do you suggest they do right now ? Is there an reasonable alternative?

Clearly they have tapped Cini, Moimoisea and that other merkin Taumoepenu. Throw in Rodwell as well. They are trying to make space.

The ACLs were unexpected, but the issue of not having an elite speedy centre or winger is not a recent phenomena, it’s been there as a gaping hole since Jennings and Fergo went. Either they weren’t prepared to pay the necessaries as they chased players , or just ignored it and hoped by some miracle the problem could be solved from our juniors.
It’s not an outcome you would see at clubs like the Roosters and others, have a look at speed and who was signed over the last say 3 seasons while our gurus missed the boat.

Blaize might not be ready, but he has to be next man up. There is potential upside there, as opposed to Lume, Cini or Dunster who are all miles off NRL standard.

the fact is that this problem has been very clear for over two years and is yet to be solved - to pretend that a professional NRL outfit is just too unlucky to trip over three quarters is garbage

reality is we have 3 1/2 first grade quality options and we have planned no further than that for two years - every other club has 6/7 options in three quarters

As I said, non-hysterical solutions are rare.
