I am being serious.

I'm not sure what I am proposing has been tried in the NRL, tbh. Normally they try some lame half/half approach that leaves no-one happy (i.e. Northern Eagles). My approach would be the easiest way to make Ipswich feel like it is their team.

It shouldn't happen though. Newcastle and the Hunter are rugby league heartlands and they must have a team.

Agreed. We also need a team between Manly and the Gold Coast. I do think Ipswich should have a team though, but it needs to be their own, similar i guess to what the AFL did with Port Adelaide or the A League with Wanderers.

Although they only lasted 2 years (1908-1909) Newcastle were a foundation club of the NSWRL.
It may have then taken them 79 years to return, but there is no way it should be considered that they no longer have a team.

Yep, Newcastle stays. There eventually needs to be a second Brisbane/another Queensland team, and a second team in New Zealand (Wellington?).

We could do with one less Sydney team, and it's kind of a shame the Sharks finally won something to legitimise themselves - otherwise they would have been the obvious choice to "disappear". Gosford is under utilised, but I fear time has passed and the chance is lost for a new team playing out of there. Adelaide and Perth (and anywhere else) aren't very cost effective options for initial expansion from 16 teams.
