I was ok with his sacking and getting a new coach. I think it was probably time to move on. That doesn’t mean I don’t think we would have made the top 8 this year if we kept him on. He led the team to the top 8 in 6 of the last 8 years, so there’s no reason to think he couldn’t again.

BA was obviously not the best coach in the game, but he is far from the disaster he is made out to be on here.

And I'm not sure anyone made out he was a disaster. Just should of been sent after 2018. But doesn't mean we do any better either.
Of course we all have a bit of a chuckle and joke on here. I mean he did put his 2 sons thru the system which is comical on it own given their skill set

True story. I was ar a Cafe once when both Ivan and Gould where at along with a few snr players and coaching staff.
And Gould was giving the run down of the game plan. It was during his first stint there.

I think BA overall did a good job , was an apart of a set that did give us long term stability and a few good years …. But tbh if we kept him … I had zero hope for top 8 in 2025

We weren't even fit after 2024 pre-season, and it showed on the field. You're right, if he was still here no hope of top8, and we would most likely be defending the spoon we won in 2024.

My point is that you’ve previously used premiership-winning coaches as the benchmark for coaching excellence.

No I didn’t. I used premierships to show any coach can win with a good enough squad and some luck.

Win rate is my measure of coaching ability.

Now, it seems that’s no longer a priority, as long as the coach is deemed a genius.

Brian Smith is a genius because he wasn’t just the coach, but effectively the GM of football as well. He also had a great ability to get ordinary squads to overachieve through the regular season.

He obviously had his flaws as well. A flawed genius, but still a genius, and a great example of intelligence not being the most important trait in a coach.

This inconsistency is why your credibility on these forums is often questioned. We remember your past statements, which appear to shift based on your current agenda.
