Ok look, it is kind of funny that I blow my trumpet about Penrith and then we sign either the guys that they rejected or players past their prime .

Frank would be ok. He will be 33 but to me it says one thing. BA is not happy with the size of the forwards we have!

FFS just because a player leaves a certain club, it doesn't mean they were rejected by that club !!

I assume in your mind every player the panthers sign isn't a reject but a smart recruitment decision ??

Really don't know why you post in the eels forum Hindy, no offence but you pretty much only post stuff about the panthers !!

This is an eels forum!!

How f**ken good are the panthers !! In there last game against the raiders 9 players out of the 17 were recruited from other clubs!!

What a disgrace that a club that is meant to have the greatest junior base in the Comp can't even field a side with at least 50 % from their juniors !!

Pritchard would be a good signing, hits the advantage line hard, carries defenders, decent offload. Kind of player that wears down the opposition in attack.

As long as he still has that in him.

Parramatta will be forced to include a near $400,000 settlement with Will Hopoate in their salary cap

PARRAMATTA’S salary cap woes could extend for the next three years with revelations the Eels will be forced to include a near $400,000 settlement to former player Will Hopoate in its salary cap.

The Sunday Telegraph has learnt the Eels settled with Hopoate for $370,000 after the Canterbury fullback launched legal action against the club. Hopoate was seeking almost $2 million.

His legal team served papers against the Eels last August believing the club had changed the terms and fee of a three-year deal. Hopoate was to be paid $630,000 in 2016, $660,000 in 2017 and $690,000 in 2018. He since signed a contract with Canterbury.

Parramatta administrator Max Donnelly confirmed earlier this month the club had settled with Hopoate “a couple of weeks ago”.

While the NRL’s salary cap auditors have yet to make a determination it is understood the Eels will be forced to include the payout to Hopoate in its salary cap.

Luckily for the Eels, they will be able to spread the payments out over the next three years of salary caps, meaning the six figure settlement will not have to be included in its entirety in next year’s salary cap.

It comes in a week where the Eels recorded the worst financial results in NRL history, losing $11 million.

Parramatta have had some joy with the NRL in recent months after it was decided Kieran Foran’s $150,000 severance package would not be included in the club’s salary cap for next year.

Foran became the first player to have a payment excluded from the salary cap in a new rule where for conduct and behaviour issues it is in the best interests of the game for a player to leave a club.

HASTINGS FRENCH LIFELINE CUT

UNWANTED Rooster Jackson Hastings is back on the NRL market after a 11th hour U-turn saw Super League side Les Catalan snub the future star for veteran journeyman Luke Walsh.

The Roosters granted Hastings an official release from the final year of his deal to join the French side last week after he was offered an attractive one year deal.

But in a bizarre twist from the notoriously hard to deal with Super League outfit, Les Catalans signed Walsh ahead of the rising talent.

You know you are struggling when you are overlooking for Luke Walsh..,

Maybe he'll get a run for a Group 6 team.. still don't think he'd be a bad option for a second tier deal

Well at least the $350k is spread over 3 seasons. That's equivalent of carrying a nuffy.

Total brain explosion by Toddy's boy Seward.

Cos they want it to hamper us ... how would it retrospectively hamper us now?

Parramatta Eels are ready to offer Hull FC back rower Frank Pritchard a one-year deal to prize him away from Super League, according to reports in Australia.

Despite signing a two-year contract ahead of the 2016 season, Pritchard is being heavily linked now with a move to the NRL and a chance to join his brother Kaysa at the Eels for 2017 seems close to being on the cards.

The Sydney Morning Herald are reporting today that Pritchard and the Eels have held negotiations and the paper suggests Hull are willing to release Pritchard if he receives a firm offer from the NRL.

A one-year contract is reportedly about to be offered to the back rower but whether the Eels will have to carry their payout of Will Hopoate on the salary cap could hinder any deal.

Losing Pritchard would be a blow off the field for Hull's Polynesian contingent in particular, while on the field even though 2016 wasn't his best, more would have been expected moving forward.

If a deal does go through it could enable Hull to bring in more players for 2017. FC are known to be considering more additions but they know players would have to leave to accommodate any signings.
