EELS TEAM SIDESTEPS HEARTLAND

Parramatta Eels could be accused of losing touch with their heartland.

Of all the places to book a room for a daylong strategy meeting on Friday, the Eels chose a conference room at the plush Intercontinental Hotel in Sydney’s CBD – a million miles away from their fan base.

As if there wasn’t a suitable facility in western Sydney for the occasion.

What’s wrong with the local Park Royal or Novotel in Parramatta, just a drop kick from CommBank Stadium?

This is so typical of Parramatta, a club with lots of top-end-of-town corporate experience but not a heap of footy nous.

Not that chief executive Jim Sarantinos agrees.

“Every internal and external event we host is in western Sydney,” he said. “This is a once-a-year occasion, and an opportunity to take our leadership team to another location – pretty common for any organisation.”

Board members do actually have real jobs.

Outrageous that one or two fly in, cab it to the city and then fly out.

Maybe we should just get old footballers who sit at home doing nothing who can meet at the club ?

as the Dogs sign another decent player, we at the Eels# remain is some sort of limbo, probably having limited cap room and no coach to push anything along. Not sure we can really improve the roster as it is, going to be a tough sell when renewal time arrives for season tickets.
Would it have been worse if we waited till seasons end to punt BA? I think probably.

We'd have no money I'd say. We do not lose anyone of note end of season bar Simmonson who would be on 250k and if replace with a min wage that only gives us 120k spare.
Lomax has cost 650k and I'd say that ate up any cent left along with Blaize will probably need to be extended and also upgraded 100k.
Unless we can move guys on but we'd have to pick up a heap of their salary. It had to be done by June 30 this year to entice clubs to get the rest of this year for free basicaly. Management to slow.

Best to look towards juniors and 2026 for now. We should have 800k free from Gutherson. And fingers crossed Jnr call it quits and Sivo Jets.

He talking about a player who was coming through a few years ago with pauli pauli and kelepi tanginoa.

A lot of young kids have been hyped up on these forums and most don't make it. I can remember back to the Witt brothers and Danny Sullivan
Danny Sullivan broke his leg in half. He is up there with Ritson for a sad story of what could have been.

Your beloved ABC moved to the people in Parra. This is a disgrace to the jersey, what's their strategy getting wasted at the Star? Which of your mates is the old football player on the board?

I won’t be renewing with these f**king clowns
Hayne would be better than Sivo next year on the wing with a fitness program. One more season! He literally played in the NFL, the fitness he can get back to would be easy considering the requirements!

*Sips whiskey*
Cheers!
