I dont get the Doorey extension to 2026 he was already contracted for 2025.

Whats the rush its not clubs were lining up to snap him up.
At minimum salary, every club in the game would sign him. I’m sure we offered more than that but by how much? There is a price that represents good value for him. If he was happy with that price why wait until after November 1st?

Sivo vows loyalty, won't play against Eels after departure

Former Parramatta Eels star and Fiji Bati winger Maika Sivo has revealed that his release from the club comes with a personal vow — he will never play against the team that gave him so much.

Sivo’s decision stems from a promise he made to himself that no matter where his journey takes him, he will never line up against the Eels.

His loyalty to the club runs deep, and he aims to be remembered as a ‘one club’ man, honoring the team that provided him with a home throughout his career.

“I will always remember that place from the bottom of my heart and especially my family, my kids were born there and all I know is that Eels is like my whole footy career and there will always be good memories there.”

Sivo says that there has been no confirmation on his next move, but he is leaving the decision in the hands of his manager to handle.

For now, the Nadroga man’s focus remains on this weekend’s round two clash against the Cook Islands Aitu in the Pacific Bowl Championship.

I doubt he'd still be on Leeds' books when we play them in the WCC in 2054 anyway....

Minimum is about $120k isn’t it? He’d already be on at least that much
Definitely....but he is probably on $200k or so for next year (which is stuff all under the cap).

So maybe they said Matty, how about we extend you for a year, but give you a top up this year.....so it's $100k top up this, 2025 minimum, 2026 minimum....

Doesn't free up a shit load, but every bit helps, and also helps cover a spot for 2026 on the cheap (he still would only be 26).

anyhow who knows.....

Doorey for me is a backup at best and hopefully will be jumped by some of our juniors coming through next year.

Guymer is already better than him and should be a second rower ffs
