Good player but he re-signed with the Warriors shortly after Mahoney signed with the Dogs. He either f**king loved NZ or he's on massive overs. If we were going to pay big money for a hooker we might as well have kept Mahoney. As it was, the cap was tight and we already had three big money players in the spine. Only Melbourne and Easts can afford that. Even Penrith had to let Koroisau leave when Edwards and Luai got too expensive. That's why we lost Mahoney. That's why we replaced him with Hodgson and later Lussick. If we get a better hooker now it's because Iongi is much cheaper than Gutherson. You need to think about this stuff, not just assume clubs should sign or re-sign the best available player at every position.
Yep, I would be very surprised if we spent Gutherson's money on another fullback. We need an NRL standard hooker, and even the average ones aren't cheap.
