Judging by our defensive efforts over the past few years, maybe Gutho wasn’t as good at organising the defensive line as you are making out.

I hope our defence improves significantly for next season, then Iongi won’t have to make as many of those last-ditch try-saving efforts.

I don't know. Maybe he was and no one could hear him or he just got ignored or the rest of the team is just not good enough.
The point is lets just hope our defence improves markedly from the levels of the past 2 yrs.
That's up to JR to assess and correct.
Anyway we'll see next year.

Difference is Iongi will have to make almost no tackles as Ryles will have our defence fixed whereas Talagi was in the front line. Still think Talagi's tackle efficiency is only about 60%.
