Lied to his previous club about the circumstances around his drug driving charge, sacked less than two weeks, still denying that he took the drugs and doesn't know how they got in his system.....

On top of Koori Knockout issues the previous year that saw him being shopped around and questioning his desire to play rugby league.

Rumours suggest we won a "bidding war" for him.

Sounds like a typical Paramatta Eels signing move just to make out we have signed more than fringe first graders and promising youngsters....
We should've signed Harry Grant on unders ffs

Side note I am VERY excited with what JAC adds to our backline. I just am so flaccid over Brailey at 9 if that's who we go with. I really wish for a more reliable 9...
Brailey to Parra which will free up cap space for Matt Lodge to go to Newcastle whose father in law is Peter O'Sullivan the new recruitment officer.

Matt Lodge has confirmed he has quit Manly but the former Broncos enforcer insists his NRL career is not over.
The controversial prop is adamant he will not be forced into early retirement and will definitely be playing in the NRL next season.

Lodge was hoping to stay at the Sea Eagles next season, but the parties were unable to agree terms after Manly tabled a two-year deal worth around $150,000 a season.

Lodge has played for five NRL clubs since his debut for Wests Tigers in 2014 and is poised to ink a deal with his sixth team.

Lodge refused to disclose the identity of the club – he has been linked with the Dragons – but insists he will not be moving to the English Super League.

“I will definitely be playing in the NRL next year,” he said.

“It’s good to know I will have my future sorted.

“I had a tough start to the year but when I got healthy, I finished the year well with Manly.

“If I didn’t know I had plenty left in the tank, I wouldn’t be playing on, but I’m excited about the years ahead and I will be ready to go next year.”

The 29-year-old prop accepts the Sea Eagles have salary-cap pressures and has no issue with Manly coach Anthony Seibold.

“They offered me a two-year deal,” he said.

“They wanted me to play that starting role with Taniela (Paseka), but it takes a toll on your body doing that.

“It was a lot to ask to do two years as a starting front-rower for minimum wage.

“I really thought about it, I wanted to meet them in the middle somewhere, but they had no salary cap space.

“I am fine with ‘Seibs’ and everyone at Manly, but I can’t play for that amount when that sort of money is given to a kid just coming out of a school who hasn’t played a game of NRL.

“I loved the club and the squad of players, but I have four boys and bills to pay, so I had to look after my future.”

Putting aside generational energy and a bands’ place in the zeitgeist (PJ and Nirvana), I find Stone Temple Pilots and Collective Soul more listenable than Pearl Jam and Nirvana nowadays. Soundgarden…Chris Cornell shits all over the others for vocals alone. Big loss.
I love em all, Nirvana started it all for me but Soundgarden was always my favourite.

Chris Cornell was a freak, saw him on his own not long before his death he was amazing.

Is he kind of shooting himself in the foot here?? Basically saying he will only play a starting role if he gets suitably remunerated for it... Other clubs on the look out for a middle benchie would be looking at that and thinking, "cool, we'll offer <200K and a bench spot"...

Yeah i thought that as well.

His comments though about looking after his family and $150k a year isnt enough tends to make me believe he has gotten a better deal with probably Newcastle where his father-in-law head of recruitment has looked after him financially.

I can't believe clubs continue to sign him up.

He has a poisonous stench about him and has he really performed that well for the clubs he has been at.

He has had more clubs then Phil Blake and cell inmates at Rikers island.

We (MON etc) are seemingly acting on strict instructions from Ryles and re-building the squad. Based on that, then the previous squad was entirely the product of BA’s vision*.

However if you read across these pages, merkins want the heads of MON the R&R committee and the CEO for the debacle that was our 23/24 rosters.

So what is it ? Merkins seem to scapegoat without having any real intimate knowledge of what is actually happening at the club.

* This makes the most sense to me.
I think it’s a lot of what you’re suggesting plus some poor decision making in the front office

Poor bloke has 4 kids to feed.
How the hell can he do that on only $150k a year? Madness!

It does seem weird. We're well covered for middle forwards unless someone else is leaving. But we should have a lot of money to spend with very few quality players available on the market

Having many middle forwards and being covered well are to different things.

Vunivalu was contracted to Rugby Australia next year but was granted an early release to take his family to France.

"Since my arrival at the Reds, Suli has been a complete pro and nothing but a giver in our locker room," Queensland coach Les Kiss said.

Next time we hear someone say that Rugby is on it's knees in this country we will know what they mean.

That's exactly what I was thinking. $200-250K and you have a very good 20 min middle with plenty of experience coming off the bench. At that price, can't be beat.

They should be studying or working in my opinion. They should all be doing teaching degrees.

This isn't American College Football. You can't make them study if they don't want to.
I'm pretty sure the NRl offers avenues for these players to do uni degrees or trade certificates whilst they are playing, but it can't be enforced on them. It definitely should be encouraged by the clubs and NRL as much as possible.

Although I'm not sure if a lot of them would be suited to teaching degrees. That's a field that isn't for everyone.
