Is this whole working in the community caper just a gimmick? A publicity stunt? From the photos I have seen it looks like a bit of a laugh - are they doing more than one day? I'm not convinced tbh.

As Dylan put it, it's not necessarily about hard work it's about getting out in the community and seeing who you're playing for. It was done over 3 days

Everything the Eels ever do is a PR exercise. Fans, not just Parra fans, react massively to whatever our players do. Whether we like it or not the general NRL fan base are obsessed with us.
It was a PR exercise, but plenty here bought in on it.

"Well done Jason Ryles"

"Gee they never did anything like that under BA. Great culture shift."

At the end of the day, it's about signing up members and aligning our sponsors with good news stories that appear in the 6pm news timeslot.

Well firstly don't think Mam is going anywhere near being a carpenter. But secondly, I'm only talking about our merkins who have been pictured mowing grass shirtless and riding in wheelbarrows. And thirdly how much fossil fuel power is it taking to generate that GIF you posted? I hope you rode your bike to work today you merkin.
Fossil fuels that those beacons of purity, NRL players, dug out with their own two hands on their days off!

Yeah Parra had a partnership with Giant Steps where a fair few of the young players: Dylan Brown, Oregon Kaufusi, Reed Mahoney, and Sean Keppie most notably would help out around the school. I'm unsure why that finished, maybe with the end of the national youth competition?

I still think it's a good idea what they've done this week. It was only 3 days out of their pre-season, help out around the community, bond with team-mates and as you've said a good story on the news. And I hope they continue to do this every pre-season.

I took interest in Brandon Smithā€™s comments on his podcast with James Graham today. Iā€™m not a fan of the cheese but there is definitely no filter on him.

He was asked specifically what Ryles is like as a coach, and he said a few things.

He stated Ryles was always well loved by the playing group, but that Ryles had the ability to ā€œsnap if you were not putting in properly and trust me, Ryles is f**king scary if you are not putting inā€. But genuinely said he think Parra are a club who have never had a defensive mindset which is what Bellamy coached upon.

He did go to great lengths to say Ryles was the sole planner and organiser of the Storm defence structures and that the structures he put in place are still being used at the Roosters! He said whatever happens, heā€™s tipping them to be a great defensive side which he said he believed was all Parra ever needed, a steely edge.

It was hard to listen after that due to my erection but music to manyā€™s ears Iā€™m sure:
