Seems like a lot of gronks on here want to pou all over any enthusiasm and excitement people have for the JR era, in case it highlights the stagnation and limitations of the BA era.

Won’t somebody please think of BAs children?
Actually there is no real reason to have factions here any more. Yet some people just can't let go and need to keep stoking the fire.

FYI, the war has been over for a quite a while now.

How was Brad Arthur a scapegoat? He was given 11 years. In the coaching game that is more than a fair opportunity. If you want to want to count post salary cap it was 7.5 years which is still a more than fair crack and that’s despite getting a wooden spoon during that time. I think you’ll find most people are in favour of the club going in a new direction and are in favour of giving Ryles a chance because it was pretty clear we were stagnating under the previous setup.

So what happened in 2018?
We only had six merkins play 20+ games that year. We also axed a bunch of dickheads and improved significantly in 2019. Ultimately though, the salary cap scandal punishment caught up with us in 2018. A lot of factors combined, but no, scapegoating merkins think it was the coach.

Shhh, you will scare off those committed to your cause of keeping the BA legacy burnished forever...particularly your bosom buddy from the west who needs everyone to know that there was never any option better than keeping BA forever, but only the truly special and brilliant could see it, like he and your good self!

We still sign dickheads. The salary cap scandals didn’t catch up to the Bulldogs in 04 or the Storm in 2012. They won premierships. It’s the coach’s job to accept responsibility for the results. That’s what they sign up for. As fair or unfair as it may be.

So is he also responsible for our good results?

Hopefully the kid does well wherever he goes.

It looke he got screwed over by 2 clubs last season.

His manager should be blamed as well

His manager is the only one who should be blamed for that fiasco.
It’s not on the clubs to ensure he has a contract ready to go before he seeks a release. That includes passing the fitness assessment, which Volkman didn’t and so the Dragons didn’t sign him.

The clubs have got to do the right thing for themselves. He asked the Warriors for a release, they gave it to him. The Dragons are not going to take on a player who failed the fitness test. It’s on Volkman and his manager to ensure it’s all good to go.
