FMD this place absolutely sucks…..all the best, go Parra!!!
Prelim finals in 2008, 2011 & 2014.Even during his mediocre years he made a grand final.
Remember the excuses for poor Brad was we keep coming up against he good teams??? lol.Prelim finals in 2008, 2011 & 2014.
Beat the minor premiers in those 3 finals series on the road with inferior opposition 2 of them in Melbourne
Ivan must have got lucky each time he came up against the Minor Premiers in those finals series.
In fact Ivan Cleary has never lost a finals match when he has come up against the Minor Premiers in that final series.
A Generational coach if you ask me
2008 v Melbourne - Week 1 at the Warriors - WON
2011 v Melbourne - Week 3 at the Warriors - WON

Remember when threads had a finite amount of posts? Those were the good old days with the good old postersI think it might be the same for posting on LU.
But what one doesn't want is 20 years of posting, and still being tonked. By that stage, something needs to change....
That's taking over 3 different clubs struggling and building them. Of course the first few yrs will be worse so you
Just can't compare it. Better would be using BAs first 3 yrs and multiplying that x3 I guess.
Why would the first few years be worse? Plenty of coaches have had the most success in their first few years:That's taking over 3 different clubs struggling and building them. Of course the first few yrs will be worse
Is making a grand final an achievement now?Even during his mediocre years he made a grand final.
So did Hagan, Anderson and Stuart. Brad Arthur is about to experience the same phenomenon. Massive coincidence!Wow Kearney had a better record somewhere else than here, simply amazing!!
Cleary had mediocre results long before he had anything to with Gould's Penrith. It's Gould who built the current Panthers machine, not Cleary. Many rave over Gould, a legend in his own mind, and how he established pathways, etc. A reckon other people did that but he'll take the credit anyway. I keep telling everyone Gould is a death rider. He undermined Cleary in his first stint at Penrith as he did their other coaches there, which he appointed. Only once the board woke up and appointed Cleary, against his wishes, and get rid of him did Cleary achieve success. Wonder if he will do that at the Dogs or has finally learnt his lesson? Or is he the one buying and selling their players?
Five games is a shithouse sample. Stats like this are a gimmick, not meaningful data.Prelim finals in 2008, 2011 & 2014.

Inconsistency is a feature of average teams. Honestly, when did we ever have a genuine top four roster? If you're being realistic the answer is 1986.Remember the excuses for poor Brad was we keep coming up against he good teams??? lol.
That’s what happens when you are inconsistent and struggle to finish in the top 4. Never his fault though just bad luck and a lack of resources.
It might even explain why Cleary was so mediocre for his first 14 seasons. Are you saying that circumstances play a part in whether a coach is successful or not?
How about circumstances such as board infighting, salary cap punishments, heavy injury tolls to key players, lack of funding in certain areas of the club, suspensions for off-field incidents, star players leaving the club at the last minute, etc?
Would you say those might be the kind of circumstances that may impact a coach’s ability to win games?
Brian Smith seemed to do ok here, Ando made a GF before he was undermined. Keep spinning shit for your failed hero.So did Hagan, Anderson and Stuart. Brad Arthur is about to experience the same phenomenon. Massive coincidence!
You reckon we didn’t have a top 4 roster from 2020/22??? We didn’t with Baldie in charge that’s for sure.Inconsistency is a feature of average teams. Honestly, when did we ever have a genuine top four roster? If you're being realistic the answer is 1986.

Yes they do. It's why I've used points differential to have raw data to disect this stuff.
Look its complicated
It’s impressive how Cleary went from being such a mediocre coach to such a great one in the last five years.
