Zoso this is actually a very good comment and good question. I’d actually love them to try it and comment!

To be fair maybe they just generally are amazed at how impressive modern athletes are. If they came to my work they’d probably marvel at the “efficiency” in which I delegate seemingly very senior duties to members of my team under the guise of “empowerment”!
Plenty of questions being fired at them re:the difference in training between Ryles and BA. Although they have answered it politically and also told one poster to not compare the 2, I can sense they have warmed to Ryles and the new coaching team.
Once a game is played BA will be a distant memory..again he did well early on but well and truly overwhelmed his stay by the end

60s must be house sitting for BA while he is in Leeds.

Why can't you compare the two.

One was training them at half pace while the other has them full steam ahead coaching them techniques to slow the game down and slight techniques on how to play the ball quicker.

Just those little 1% and attention to detail that's being coached into the players will be a big difference.

If Arthur had done more in finals then we would have had more players in the origin teams. It’s a what came first out of the chicken and the egg scenario.
Yeah if the players had done more in the finals they would've had a better chance at getting picked as well. Why is it all on the coach? Jarryd Hayne won the Dally M under both Anderson and Arthur. Good players don't let coaching hold them back. Why let off the hook by blaming the coach? How many players left Brad Arthur's and performed better under some other coach?

I don't think so. Average speed and ability under the high ball, but great at making metres, which is exactly what Penrith need from him.

I would say he is the best meter eating winger I've ever seen in the history of the game. And currently the best winger in comp.
Guys like Coates have more skill. But you'd be a fool to chose him over Brian.
And Edwards is currently the best fullback. Not the most skilled.
I've explained this to you before but you don't listen.

Guys like Ponga and Walsh are brilliant. They are explosive and great to watch. But guys who can break tackles and run and run and run are more consistent and effective because they hurt the defense. They tire the defense. Imagine how much energy it takes to bring down To'o and multiply that by 20x a game. Eventually he wears the defense down and they run out of gas and you just get trampled.

Many don't rate Penisini but I do cause of his power. That's how I'd build a squad. Tackle breakers with big hearts.
Will needs to be running the ball more and stop being lazy. His hit ups are brutal

Have we ever had a squad the reflects a spoon? BA collected 2.
Only Barretts saved us from it this year.
Because of the salary cap there usually isn't a worst squad, there is just all the mediocre squads and one of them has the most injuries and gets the spoon that way, which is what happened to us. Rarely do you have a team like the current Tigers or Newcastle from seven/eight years ago or Parra from 2011-2013. In a year without one of these very shit teams, any of the average sides could run last. The Roosters only won six games in 2016 and were saved from the spoon by Newcastle's one win. The Roosters had an average squad that year and were just unlucky, like us in 2018 and 2024. Average squad plus injuries = a fight for the spoon. There's no need for a scapegoat, as though Trent Robinson forgot how to coach that year.

Coates is better than To'o and better suited to Melbourne, who have great attacking forwards. They don't need hit ups from their back three.

Well what we will now do is use statistics to confirm this. But it's confusing because Too blows him away in every stat and makes 30% less errors.

Defense

Too 90% tackles effective
Coates 80.6%

Line breaks

Too 20 (13) Xavier 11

Brian played 8 more games so 13 if played same

Average meters

Too 196mtrs
Coates 132mtrs

Tackle breaks
Too 154 (102) if played 16 games
Coates 43

Fantasy points

Too 48
Coates 32

Errors

Too 13 (8) if played 16 games
Coates 12

Mate your right. Stats help heaps. Thanks for letting us know the importance of them. You rated Coates better due to a visual illusion. Perhaps a flash play like that superman jump in the corner which clouded your judgement. So glad we have stats for this reason.

The coach is the one responsible for the teams results (as fair or unfair as you may think it is). The teams that go deep into the finals are the ones that get selected for origin. It’s not rocket surgery.

Great, and tragic, movie. Jake the Muss used to be something of a fixture at Warriors games, if my memory is correct.

Since when has a club only required 1 hooker? You do realise most sides carry 2 hookers. We gave Luke 21 games last year over Smith. A aging player with zero NRL prospects.

We gave plenty of other youngsters, 20 year olds plenty of NSW cup time, when there was other players blocking their pathway, Guymer, Saunders, Pryke....

I hope he makes it. But my point is MA had zero affect on Smith's development. The MA "nepotism" blocked Smith is total bullshit!!

He was simply not rated high enough by us or any of the other 8 Sydney NRL clubs. Even now, we only have 2 hookers in our squad, he is "training" the house down, and we still won't even offer him even a development contract after the new coaching "brains" trust have had 3 months to see how he goes.

You are starting to sound too much like Pou which is sad..

What are you talking about having 1 hooker? Last year we had Hands Lussick and Boods as NRL hookers..

Of course Boods was having an affect of Smiths development. He was Infront of him in the pecking order and younger ffs.

How do you know no other club doesn't want or enquired about Smith? Have you been in contact with Ryles directly and have inside goes?
Or just more bullshit?

Agree, I appreciate the job they do but there’s no reason you can’t compare and give honest assessments.
By way of comparison, they’ve had former Eel and rugby defense coach John Muggleton on their live post match broadcasts.
JM didn’t hold back in highlighting the coaching deficiencies of our poor, and seemingly perpetually unaddressed, right edge defense.
If you can have guests give honest assessments, why not them as well.

Yeah wow. I didn't realise Coates had such shit stats. Looks like you were right. Thanks mate. This is why we shouldn't rely on the eye test.

No, the team is responsible for the team's results. If it was just the coach, it wouldn't matter what their team was like. Good coaches would never miss the finals.
The teams that go deep into the finals are the ones that get selected for origin. It’s not rocket surgery.
The teams that consistently go deep into the finals are the ones with the best players. If they don't have the best players it doesn't matter how good their coach is. Luck is more of a factor on game day than coaching. Or did Brad Arthur suddenly become the second best coach in 2022?

Meni Luke was also ahead of him in the pecking order. Nepotism hey?
