Why? He's only ever played under 1 coach in BA. He's yet to hit his peak.
I wouldn't be letting him go before tapping the likes of Lane, Lussick and even Matto.
Always chasing to stop a try.
Still very young.
Very quick.
Top defender.
Suited to the left.
Breaks the line often.
His best footy is ahead of him.
I know u completely dislike him but a new coach, tactics, ideas etc may be exactly what's required.
This all may be a moot point if he's already signed for the Roosters
Yeah we need to keep him. Hopefully the team can start winning from Rnd 1.

Dylan can take a hike

His deal for 25 and beyond is basically $1m a season, which even he knows is overs for what he has ever delivered on the field. He’s been well overpaid for 4-5 years now.

we developed him and stood by him through his off-field BS that I wish we had sacked him for and cut our losses. He’ll never lead a team in the halves and never be consistent as his head isn’t screwed on right.

if he had any decency he would have voided the option and stayed loyal at least until the 2028 clause

His gone i reckon.

You dont pull this stunt and clearly what his contract is for 2026 isnt good enough.

Like he has basically put the club over the barrel which in a way was its own stupid fault by offering a dozen POs and easy exit strategies..

Plus what does it say about the bloke letting the manager refer to him as a "franchise player".

Clearly no team first culture which is Ryles wants to build.

And i think Dylan showed that when he went to the Sheaf and decided to be an individual goose on the piss during a bye week which screwed over 2023 after we gave him the keys for a decade.

What has done to repay the joint since then.

Maybe in hindsight we should have sacked his arse out onto the street in disgrace. And then rebuilt his reputation somewhere else anyway.

Its time to cut the selfish poison out and move on.

For too long we have had managers and players dictate too much and we have rolled over.

Time the club makes a stand.

It’s because he is a f**king pelican. I don’t care how good he may be. He’s a f**king peanut and bad for morale. He owes us everything yet pulls this shit prior to the season even beginning.

f**k him off and sign Galvin whilst we still have a chance.

I would be ringing up Galvin's manager today and telling him do you want Dylan's money plus a couple 100k extra.

Ok...yes if we could get Galvin then I'd be happy...somehow I think Galvin will be a long term Tigers player.
So no doubt Roosters will be going extremely hard at Brown and Galvin to partner Sam Walker next year

Also possible that Ryles has had a similar chat to Brown as he did RCG and Gutho.
Very true and he may have looked at what he's on thought you have to be kidding me...who knows..
But I hope this is sorted out sooner rather than later.
It's an unnecessary distraction

Eels star Dylan Brown open to offers to leave Parramatta

The rebuild of new Parramatta coach Jason Ryles has been dealt a significant blow with star playmaker Dylan Brown seeking expressions of interest from rival clubs for the 2026 season.
Brown’s management company on Wednesday emailed prospective clubs seeking expressions of interest in the star five-eighth for the 2026 season despite having an option in his favour to remain at Parramatta until 2031.
Dylan Brown could be on his way out of the Eels.

Brown, who is on a contract worth close to $1 million a season, has a player option in his Eels contract that he has to take up before round 10 this season that will guarantee his stay at Parramatta.
Even if Brown triggers the player option to stay at the Eels before round 10, it doesn’t completely guarantee his stay at Parramatta until 2031.

He has another option in a few years’ time to get out of the contract if he wants to leave.
The Eels have been speaking with his manager Chris Orr for several months in an attempt to remove the options from his contract, however they haven’t been able to reach a resolution with his manager looking to test the market.
The email also included a link to highlights and is believed to have also been sent to rugby union clubs.
“Please revert back to Gavin and I on email to register your clubs interest in securing the services of Dylan Brown for season 2026 and beyond,” said the email sent by Orr and obtained by this masthead.
“Once we finalise the level of interest, we will work with you to set up an appropriate time to catch up with Dylan. These type of “Franchise Players” dont [sic] come on the market very often.”

The Eels have also been in discussions with Mitchell Moses’ agent Isaac Moses to try and facilitate a significant upgrade and extension to remove the player option from the halfback’s contract as well.
The Eels are willing to make Moses an Eel for life by extending his deal beyond its current expiration in 2028 by an additional season and upgrading the value of that contract.
In turn the Eels want Moses to remove the player option in his contract that could see him walk out on the club in 2027 at his discretion.

The outcome should be, if Drown moves then the HOF should be moved on quickly, these decisions on contracts that put theclub in an unenviable position are a result of giving ground to player managers, we’ve seen enough of that in that past 5 years.

Time for the HOF and his offsider to put big boy pants on and get this under control, see how it pans out.

NRL head coach gets full control over most operations.
I'd say it varies from coach to coach and club to club.
I would say Ryles will as well when it comes to NSW cup just like BA did if he wants to look at a certain player at a certain position or wants to put a player up in Cup to see how he develops there.
I have no doubt that he could tell the reserve grade coach where to pick any given player. But it's reserve grade, so it hardly matters. Hands still played the vast majority of his NRL minutes at dummy half.
I know for a fact and had it confirmed that Hands was seen as a dummy half from multiple people within the football operations of the club.
I knew it by watching where he got picked in first grade. The only times he ever started in the halves were in reserve grade, including two years before Matt Arthur was anywhere near reserve grade. In 2022 he even started games at lock: https://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/...tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0t

Hands is a utility and will be used where he's needed. In our reserve grade team that was almost anywhere. In first grade we are weakest at hooker so that's where his opportunities are.
It just happened to be there was a younger dummy half coming through that was pushed to play there in cup instead because the head coach at the time wanted to fast track his development and saw him as a future first grader with more potential then Hands.

Which is all well and good but when that actual player is the coaches son it certainly pisses off a lot of people and can be seen as nepotism by certain quarters.
So Brad Arthur told Cayless to bench his son in round five so Hands could start at hooker?

The fact is coaches pick the best 13 and worry about the number on their backs afterwards. If Hands and Arthur were both in the best 13 then the one without utility value (Arthur's) has to play hooker. In first grade both our halves were better than Hands so he never started there. There's no need for conspiracy theories.
