Drown has a year to run after extending his contract two years ago. There is nothing unusual about it other than the options to stay which apparently aren't rich enough to get him to activate them. So it's essentially a three year contract with further player options to stay for unders. Zero cost to the club if true. Without the options he would still be testing the market right now.

And without the options we wouldn't have ~$1m in cap in limbo for seasons 2026 and 2027 right now and right up until Round 10 potentially which precludes us from negotiating with other high priced replacements for one of the most important positions on the field...

But yeah, it's win-win...

It also would've cost to not include them in the first place. Think of all the players without them in their contracts. Why do they not also have POs if there's no cost to the player?

Our Ex coach has already stated he wants to coach in the NRL again next yr....not sure which club would be after him if any...wants to get the gang back together again.

So if Dylan was to go then:
- Volkman,
- Galvin,
- Luke Metcalfe
- Wishart
- Pezet
- Faalogo (understand he's a fullback but has also played 5/8)
- I'm sure there are a host of new players who will emerge this yr who are currently stuck behind incumbents

If a halfback gets injured during a game he must be replaced, during that game, by someone else in the game day 17/18 players. The following week, if he is still injured, he can be replaced by anyone in the squad.

I truly hope this is the case. We need to get this absurd contract off our books and Dylan is most certainly not the calibre of player you go to the end of the world to retain. Thanks for the mediocre memories Dylan. You won’t be missed.
