Inexplicably the Eels management allowed Brown two get-out clauses in his NRL contract which permit him to leave at the end of this year or in 2028.
Without those clauses we could’ve had him for the rest of his life!!!
Then why is his manager so proactively and publicly shopping him around – and not just to NRL franchises?
Because his two ‘get out clauses’ are obviously for less than he is worth.

f**ken rugby league journos. Absolute shit stirring scum.

i just cant believe how the rest of the rugby league universe cant see the brilliance of MONs and Big Jims ability to bend the cap to their will.......
Other clubs have these clauses too. And whenever the player declines to activate the clause, it’s proof that it was for unders. When he does take the clause, it means it was a better deal than he could get anywhere else. It also means the club didn’t offer an upgrade, which would be the case for most players with a PO. The player option is insurance, and the expectation is that the player won’t need to use it.

yet again, an assumption stated as a fact, if you haven’t seen the contract terms who knows. Guess it supports your ongoing argument so we just nod and agree, Pou, you are getting tiresome in your attempts to “educate us”

Media reporting is so disingeneous.
They aren't escape clauses.
He signed a 3 year contract and is on the market like anyone else whose contract has expired. If he doesn't accept a new contract from us, or take anyone else's offer then he is free to stay here at a previously agreed amount. He just needs to decide by round 10.

Anyone who believes the hype around there being an 'escape clause' must also believe he originally signed a 9 year contract.
ffs

And yet that's exactly how his re-signing was trumpeted at the time...
“The Parramatta Eels are delighted to announce Dylan Brown has agreed to a multi-year extension to remain at the Club until at least the end of 2025 with an option to remain an Eel until 2031.”

The club announced the 2031 thing ..... you think there is literally nothing in the contract beyond end of 2025? That the club was just talking smack in the announcement and plucked 2031 out of the blue? .... or are you saying there is something very vague in the contract? ...... I assume there must be something for them to have mentioned it

Well it says it’s an option, which is what it is. Only the years to end of 2025 were guaranteed.

It's all part of the process to remove player options coupled with a player manager imposing his responsibilities on said players. This manager negotiated the current contract and now the club (coach) wants it rectified so proper planning can occur. Said Manager is puffing out his chest and our club is now not so compliant. Ryles has balls. Loving the changes he has initiated. Loving our tougher stand. Change is not without consequence.

well there is a contract with options ..... thats still a contract beyond 2025

you are just trying to say that people should never be confident of having a player with POs the entire length of that contract ...... I think people understand that
It shows the club’s intent. They see this guy as a long term prospect. If he ends up leaving it was his decision.

RS is trying to turn us from Bald Beta cucks to the Alpha Eels. It will take some time to get rid of the Beta Bea stink from the club.

With all due respect, it appears to infer the opposite of that. That there is a contract to 2031, with an escape clause for the player in 2025.

Have you seen the contract that you can be so certain the media is reporting it correctly/ incorrectly?

As far as the public statements indicate, there is a 2025 player option, which can be exercised to continue the contract. That is not equivalent to a contract ending - it is worse than that from the clubs point of view.
The option is obviously in the player’s favour, which both player and club knew during negotiations. Just like more money is in the player’s favour while less money is in the club’s favour. Merkins are only bitching about the PO because they don’t know the money values it was exchanged for.

I don't particularly want to get into a what's the difference between the two argument. But if a "6" has 55 possessions in a game whilst the "7" has 55 possessions which 16 of them lead to kicks. Is that what a "7" is?

when Mitch was out injured and Dylbro played at 7, he showed me that he is just not the play maker that Mitch is, despite getting his hands on the ball enough times

Is Dylan even Australian ? If not, this is one of the worse made up stories ever.

Dude you can’t play for Australia if you aren’t Australian. Kiwis can work here, own real estate and vice versa.

Wasn't Quade Cooper a Wallaby for years before becoming an Aussie citizen?

You may well be right.
You went off a bit, how do you say it, half cocked there...

Supporting cast, can't see anyone paying him more than us. I guess that's why Gavin Orr had to create an ad for dylan. Sounds like no one has been enquiring.

That might be true for some, but there are other reasons to be unhappy with the deal that aren't necessarily emotional positions.

I think the "Wallaby" thing is a bit misguided .... offering to Rugby Australia would be an attempt to get him to the australian Super Rugby (or whatever they call it these days) franchises ..... RA foots the bill for high profile salaries for NSW/Qld/Brumbies/[insert other failed rugby union franchise name]
Doesn't Rugby Australia own all the franchises now?
