I was told a few years ago Lomax was a bit of trouble with attitude problems from a dragons fan that i worked with at my old job.

But that could have just been his biased opinion and didn't expand on his reasons in terms of off-field just pointed to some things that happened on the field where he would abuse team mates when he was at fault but this was like 12 months before we signed him he told me this.

I guess we will find out

One positive is we have got him for a decent deal from our perspective and there isn't a PO for him to milk the club for money.
I reckon (with no actual interaction with him) that he’s a bit like Hayne, in that he has strong ideas on what the best training is for him. And what I hear about Flanagan doesn’t seem like they would regularly have the same training ideas

He's also one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL - a position that many people argue is one of the hardest positions to learn to play properly, because you need to learn blitz patterns, block zones, recognise play calls, and much, much more.

It is generally said that offensive linemen have the highest IQ's on an NFL team.

I'm so happy for Jordan - he's killing it over there.
Yeah I heard a coach talk about it somewhere. Wish I could find it again. Basically the offensive line is told for each play called to open up these channels for the backs BUT we don’t know what the defence is going to do so make sure you cover those channels too, BUT definitely make sure that one is free, BUT if the defence looks like they are going to do something else we might change it so you’ll need to be prepared to also keep that other channel free. AND also you can’t tackle your opponent, you can’t even grab him.
I’d say it’s almost the only sport where a good offence (in just the line) is more important than defence. Sort of defending your offence as it is

Doubt JAC is on huge money, there was zero demand for him imo. Was on $550k at Dogs apparently, I'd say about half that with us. The CO gives the club flexibility and comes at a price the club sets, not what the player wants.

Your are dreaming if you think he is costing 300k or less. At that price atleast 5 or 6 clubs would of chased.
And he was almost the best winger in game when dogs signed him whilst they where rubbish and paying overs to attract guys.I don't beleive the 550k figure. 650k more like it.

I'd say we offered him 500k for next season. I'd also guess we are only paying about 400k this year as Dogs would of paid his first few months. Guys like Russel would demand 200k and he is a fringe nrl player. JAC at 400k is a bargain

Lomax at 650k isn't exactly cheap or a bargain deal. His form the previous season prior to his signature was very average. I'd say based on that form he would be worth 450k Max. The thing is by the time we signed him his form was improving. By about rnd 16 he was one of the best back in game. What's that worth?
Crighton is on 800k at the Dogs and is the best back in the game and id say the highest paid or close excluding fullbacks. Lomax is worth 700-750k if maintains 2024 form. Is he on that much unders?

Sivo doesn't strike me as tghe sort of guy that would be mentally damaged by this, he would be more than happy to take the money whilst spending the season rehabbing.

Dodged another Brad Arthur bullet there.
I don't understand how the fk a head coach could have 11 out of his top 17 all over the age of 30, going into the 2025 & 26 seasons. It was obvious Arthur had nfi in what he was doing roster wise, we were heading for a disaster.
But don't mention this to Pau Pau because according to him, The Bush Coach's only job was to show any prospective new signings the training feild and gym, and had absolutely zero say on recruitment & retention lol 😆

How the flying fk can a club have 11 or 12 of its top 17 all over 30 ?
unbelievable

Are you not counting Halfbacks as backs?

Ivan Cleary's success really burns you doesn't it.
No he perfectly demonstrates my assertions about the (un)importance of coaching, and the value of large data samples for judging merkins. He is an even better example than Ricky Stuart.
Is it because you didn't rate him and he has made you look like a bit of fool by not rating him.
He is either a great coach who won nothing for the better part of two decades, or he's not a great coach who still managed to win four straight premierships because he was given a great squad.

Ricky Stuart was also given a great squad and made three straight grand finals. With more luck he could've won all three. Would that have made him a great coach? Away from the Roosters his record is similar to Cleary's away from Penrith, and Brad Arthur's away from any big club.
I have him about on par with Bellamy when it comes to modern day greats of coaching and he has proven he can coach at different organisations.

Bellamy has had the cushion of being in Melbourne out of mind for 20+ years.
I suspect Bellamy isn't as great as his record suggests. Don't forget the Storm won their first premiership before Bellamy took over. They were always a huge club, long before they had all these committed fans. What they had (resources) is far more important than a large fanbase. Look at Penrith.
If you like reading you get his book and see what Ivan has done to transform himself as a coach and as a person you would be inspired.

He donated his kidney to save his brother's life while he was coaching the Tigers.

Truly inspirational Ivan the Great.
He is definitely better than the first 14 years of his coaching career showed.

And yet they receive few accolades when they do well.
The most important player on the field is the QB. The O-line is the next most important, yet it's the RBs and WRs that get all the attention.

That's because we wanted to keep the grand final team together and they were all over 28 at the time. If we had decided to rebuild after the grand final, whingers like you would've pissed your knickers.
