But an option can't have negative value. In the worst case scenario, Dylan is in the same situation as if he'd exercised his option to stay 2 months ago. By not doing it and doing a bit of advertising he has a non-zero chance of a better outcome (either a higher salary elsewhere or at the Eels). I don't think there's anything dumb about it......there's no downside for them.
