He absolutely was.

So was Andrew Johns.

And Brad Fittler.

Peter Sterling...Ricky Stuart...Cooper Cronk...

But they're still great.
And Dylbags was good for us when we had a good side that was playing well, most merkins in here though seem to want to act like his whole time has been like last season when he had the delight of getting to play with a donkey like Morgan Harper outside him. Yeah, he played like shit last week but so did the whole f**king team bar two, maybe three players.

Agree. But it’d be hard to find games when he wasn’t massively involved, leading the team, making match winning plays, and generally finding his all.
You’d never accuse him of fading in and out of games or being a downhill skier.
That is true, he’d certainly never fit in at our club that’s for sure.

I think where old Dylbags leaves a sour taste in the mouth is that many elite players view big contracts as a 2 way street. If the player signs a big deal with security put in it for their benefit by the club ... then they go out and repay that to the best of their ability. Following on from that whatever happens happens. It's a professional sport , guys are going to get offers that temp them.

Dylan has not repaid his contract and the investment in him since 2022. He f**ked up off field in 2023 and it basically cost us a finals spot.. he was disappointing in 2024 and didn't live up to his contract value.. and he's disrupted our culture rebuild and start of 2025. In my opinion he's entitled to take any stupid offer he wants from the Knights but clearly we can all see the difference between a guy who wants to do all within his power to repay the club and his teammates and develop his game to match the contract he's on and a bloke that doesn't have the leadership , commitment and self awareness it takes to get to the top in a team sport.

There's a reason our 100+ game half and the 2nd highest paid player in the club wasn't in our leadership group and a bloke that's played 0 games for the squad is. Since 2022 Dylan hasn't lived up to his end of the contract . There's been solid performances here and there but his personal progression and development hasn't reflected the commitment we made as a club to him. You'd like to think he has a huge 2025 to go part way to repaying the club but given everything he's shown to date in his career he's yet to put it together for many 80 min performances let alone week to week and for a whole season. This over his head will more than likely be another excuse for why he didn't get it done... him being Newcastles 1.4 mil problem may not end up that bad for us. I mean , we're coming off a 40 point drubbing against Melbourne and he has such little awareness that he spends 10 mins talking to the media about next year. Im sure the club told him to address it once and get it over and done with but he couldn't figure out for himself how to make it primarily a next year focus. Some blokes get what it takes , some blokes don't ... I 'm willing to bet Dylbags forever struggles to figure it out.
I'd respect a deal done on the back of a beer coaster these days more than the alternatives.

Anyone see the presser with the Juda’s DH??

What a selfish self entitled f**kwit.

“Real fans will understand my decision”

So anyone pissed off that he’s been a disloyal merkin is not a true fan??

I have no doubt that Ryles pushed with dopey clown out the door.
Mate, it's not our fault your lime scooter got taken by cyclone Alfie.

I thought 700k was average for a half....
Players on $1.3m are going to drive up that pretty quick. Pretty sure Cogger, Cole, Sexton, Ilias, Harris-Tavita, Flanagan, also Sharpe & Strange, and reportedly Trindall are all under $700k and are current first choice halves for better or worse. How confident are you that Wishart is better than any of them?

Most of these blokes are average to good.
Wishart could be just as good as any of the above mentioned.
For mine the 2 best and ironically the 2 youngest/inexperienced are Strange and Sharpe. Others I probably wouldn't consider as another youngster or Wishart could the same if not better job.
I just hope Moses comes back quicker than hoped and then Ryles can bounce Brown and we look to do a player swap.
I'm more done with him now than I was the other day after hearing his absolute BS today

Sharpe and strange I'd be pretty keen on.

I just think he's not picking the eels for 50k more than the storm. You're gonna have to pay a llittle more unfortunately

I'd be making a fairly big play for Trindal to replace Brown. We don't need a specialist 5/8, nor a marquee player. We need a very good (not elite) player who can play 5/8 but also take over at 7 when Moses is injured. I reckon Trindall is that guy.

Well and truly under lock and key though which is why Atkinson is off the Dragons next year right?

Just saw Bush Coach 2.0 do his presser today on 360.

He didnt want to answer one question about Dylan was worried about this weeks game

Compared to our peanut who was too busy talking about his next journey next year at his presser

The last thing the Eels should be doing is trying to recruit a big money import off the back of potential ie Lachlan Galvin. Patience is a virtue and you need to be patient either waiting for something come thing thru your junior pathways or a low cost kid with talent from another club. If you throw huge money at the likes of young Galvin, as yet unproven, you will be no better off than you are now. There is plenty of hugely talented kids coming thru the junior pathways of all NRL clubs, you just have to find the right one at a fraction of the initial outlay.

Sharpe I don’t think is a half. I included him and Strange but age is also a factor with them. I agree probably unlikely to get Wishart away from Scum with just the promise of starting spot but he’s supposedly on 350k currently, paying double seems very risky.

I think he’d be good replacement but he’s signed to 2028 and I reckon Sharks more likely to punt Kennedy and move Atkinson or Spicoli to fullback

I agree with you there is no rush to be honest.
On Galvin we have a whole season to watch how he goes next to Luia if he doesn't improve I doubt we will throw crazy money at him.

We have Volkman and Hawkins as possible replacements for next year.

On juniors we have a few have some ok ones in Flegg as well as CUP not long term I don't think but they will be ok while one of the 3 in Ball and Matt's come through.
