Are you trying to argue the NRL won't allow Matto be medically retired for ongoing concussions?
I am (correctly) saying that the NRL rules wouldnt (or shouldnt) allow an exemption under the cap if he medically retires as a result of the Kaufusi tackle (or pre-existing concussion issues) because the injury would not have happened as a one off injury that occurred during the term of the existing Contract.

Packers retirement was due to a foot injury which was pre-existing his Tigers Contract and therefore he couldnt be medically retired. Foot injuries are notoriously tricky to heal due to poor circulation etc. When did Mitchell sign his new Contract?
Did the Tigers sign Packer before or after he coward punched some merkin and then laid into him further while he was defenceless on the ground?

Well.....its the rules, so there is that.

Tigers were stuck with Russell Packer for that reason and are currently arguing the toss with NRL about Olam. Under NRL rules, there is no way a player can retire with a pre-existing injury (pre-existing the last Contract signed) and not come under the cap.

Remember Andrew Davey?

Anyone who has had more than a few decent injuries knows that some you can make a full recovery from and some you can't. Making a full recovery can take years to achieve. Depending on the nature of the injury and the time it can take to determine its permanency or otherwise, throws an entirely debatable legal aspect into the machinations of an insurance payout. It's a minefield of bullshit and the best bullshit artist wins. That's how it works.

How many references would you like?
Maybe the one direct from NRL which states the guidelines for medical terminations?
Other then that I’ll tell Jake Friend to get back out there

He was our best forward in 2022.
Let's be fair, Pou. For whatever reason, whether it's medically or mentally related Matto needs to look at where his life heads in the future. I personally don't think he's up to the rigors of NRL going forward. 2022 is quite some time ago in footy life. The $$$$ on offer can cloud one's judgement. I wish him well.

No you said it was impossible or along those lines. Before it loses the track though, medical termination would only be one way of removing his contract from cap, except of course it not being possible at all to do.
