Geez I would love to have someone in 13 that is a constant threat to other halves. A Wade Graham type that playmakers are genuinely worried about during their game.

I really want someone to selectively target playmakers with brute force every time they are thinking about calling for the ball!
For a. We have dalker now and we used to have hopgood.

For b. Kelma but he can't read in defense well. He is our temu villiame

Matto could have been that in his peak.

But i think he just didn't have the mental toughness that Graham possessed.

I would be leaving Walker at 14.

Its where he has played his best footy and he actually loves the role.

Its hard to find players that love coming off the bench and can impact a game.
He came off the bench and played longer minutes than every other middle other than Paulo and Hopgood (who spent 18 minutes at dummy half). Walker also took more runs per minute than any other player in our team. While he was on the field (for 52 minutes) he was the focal point of our attack.

reckon Douehi wouId be a good option for us to replace Drown.

Has a fair running game, and good kicking game. But he can also play other positions. So while we would have to give top 17 money, we could move him, if we wanted to give a junior a chance.

He wouldn't be super cheap, but not that expensive considering what halves are getting.
Someone is going to get Doueihi pretty cheap and I have to say he is actually playing his career best football at the moment.

Good point I actually thought Xavier Willison was 19-20 but he is 23 years old this year...

Sam Tuivati is developing really well same with Guymer who I think they want to turn into a 30-40 minute off the bench tackling middle..we have some forwards coming through in Flegg , Ball and Matt's they just need to want to work for it...

Do you give S.Pryke a chance?

Well you will need to sign some experience at 6 or have two kids doing preseason. As @emjaycee says we will have a really inexperienced spine in 26.

Riley and Ionghi will hopefully have a full season behind them. Probably 2027 will be when they come into their own but they'll be up to the speed of game by 2026.

I'd go after a strike centre and 1 or 2 edge forwards. Unsure if I'd sign JAC up. If not another gun winger who is a eater eater type.

I like the idea of bringing R Smith on slowly. He’s played 6 games FFS. Using HIM as our impact player for his first year and let him develop and a view to grow him into a starter and potential 80min hooker.

Dylan Walker has to be in the starting 13, somewhere. Next year if (and “if” is the correct term at this stage) R Smith kicks on, we can potentially have him starting and Dylan Walker back to the bench impact role/player which he is actually brilliant at.

Please summarise.
Here is what ChatGPT says in regards to Dylan Brown in the article:

Main Argument:

While Dylan Brown is being criticised for low involvement and leadership after his record deal with Newcastle, the data suggests his involvement has actually increased in terms of touches – but the quality and impact of those touches may be lacking, especially in key attacking areas.

Key Stats & Observations:

  • Touches per game: Brown has gone from 42 touches per game in 2024 to nearly 54 in 2025 – a significant increase.
  • Field position: His touches have shifted more towards midfield rather than the traditional left tram line.
  • Run involvement: He’s running less inside the opposition 30 metres – one of his strengths – which allows defences to sit back and prepare for the kick instead.
  • Side dominance: Brown is still primarily a left-side player (81% of touches), fairly consistent with last year (83%).
  • Usage rate (non-yardage): Just 13.7%, significantly down from last year and one of the lowest among starting halves this season.
  • Teammates more involved: His halves partners (Volkman and Hawkins) are showing higher involvement, especially in non-yardage plays, which suggests Brown is deferring too much.

Concerns Raised:

  • Leadership expectations: As the high-paid senior half, he's not stepping up in terms of taking control of games.
  • Attacking threat reduced: His drop in runs and passive style are making him easier to defend against.
  • Team context: Parramatta’s forward pack has one of the lowest metres gained in the comp, so Brown is working with less platform – but even accounting for that, he’s not doing enough.

Overall Message:

Brown’s touch volume is up, but his influence is down. He's playing more like a facilitator than a leader, which is not ideal given his role and salary. His current play style is making it easier for defences and putting more pressure on his halves partners to be creative.
