Rumours and Stuff

1. MON needs to move on. No question. But not because of Galvin. Jim, I’m not so sure about but happy for him to go as well
2. Not so angry about missing out on Galvin. I’ve said it before, I don’t think he is anywhere near an $800K to $1 mil player. I think at this stage of his career he is overrated. That’s not to say he won’t reach his potential.
3. I think there are some genuine options in our club, I wouldn’t be adverse to seeing Joash or Iongi tried there, and then of course there are some juniors coming through.
However, if we are going to go to market, I would (without understanding current contract situations) I would chase Sandon Smith, Savala or even Burton.
4. Phil Gould is and always has been a merkin. He is a liar, he is a fraud and he has way too much influence over the game. It’s an absolute disgrace that he (along with many others) use their roles in the media to push agendas. This whole thing smells. It would not surprise me if he had already done the deal months ago.
did I say he is an ugly merkin and a stain on our game?

A 19 year 5/8 that has had a good rookie year then screwed over his current club as he wanted to be the number one playmaker. If its true we upped our offer to 900k then I'm not upset as I think he was a high risk signing.
Gus could promise him dominant playmaker and a share in a pub off the books.
I can really see this signing creating a lot of disharmony at the Dogs. Multiple players are going to get screwed over to accommodate Galvin and his ego.
Ryles has to now show us he can develop one of the guys already on our books. JPap, Volkman, Twiddle all have potential to fill the spot and the Galvin money can get us a decent front rower and an edge.
I actually think Gus may have screwed up.

Agree about the disharmony. But that’s Gould for you. Chew you up and spit you out. The merkin wouldn’t know loyalty if he tripped over it. Let alone that half of The Gangsta tigers best mates are at the dogs.

Cmon! List the achievements of our lot in the last 4/5 years, a litany of players wanting out and reserve graders. Hiring someone
into that position with no experience isn’t what good management does.

My experience is hire someone with a profile and track record in the top quartile of your industry, monitor them for 18 months and if they don’t make the level expected move on, Business and sport is unforgiving and results driven. Surely that’s the point of all this, no friggin results compared to our peers.

Sure mate you think, hand on your heart, that we missed out on Galvin because of the incompetence of our CEO and Football Manager.

Nothing to do with anything else like the coach or current trajectory, squad depth or pubs promised. You have all the information, know exactly the decision making process etc.

So glad that we have such informed posters like you and the snake guy around.

I admire Gus. Don’t get all the hate. Wish we had him. What a man. What a manager. Actually knows footy, talent, management, shrewd, calculating and cunning. it’s what we needed but we were blessed with MON and Jim’s mowing, they were hired from the homeless park at Glebe
He is shrewd yes Jake, but to what end? Morally bankrupt lying merkin. I’ll take someone with morals and ethics any day over that merkin

No, he knows how to win. He knows what it takes to win.

What do our guys know how to do? Nothing, come last, sign shit.

Galvin cannot be a 7 because his long range kicking game is like a pop gun. If he went to the Dogs to become a halfback I just don’t see it.

Imagine how Sexton is feeling? Both he and Mahoney are on their way out. Tracey will be feeling vulnerable too.

And I don’t want Burton because he thinks the earth is flat. He’s a dumb merkin.

That’s your perspective. But they are on their way to winning many comps. They love him. He hasn’t done anything illegal. I wish we had someone anywhere near him.

We are coming last. That’s all that matters to me at the moment. With permissive fans like yourself, anything goes.
