I think the situation is a bit more complicated than that..

we have Hands tied up ( excuse the pin ) for next year with Smith and Lachie Coinakis on a long term deal. I think the club will persist with Hands/Smith and Get Coinakis on a D deal over the off season..it's a gamble but I think it's the logical thing for a club that is hellbent in becoming a pathways and development champion of the NRL, and saves them from having to negotiate and compete with players externally.
I’ve heard Coinakis is quite small and probably won’t make it.

But in reality it's only been one poor year 2024. And look at the squad turn over between 2024 to 25....

I agree pathways was poor and a big factor in us not being able to replace players we lost in 2022. But is that MON and Co's fault?

It all costs money, and it looks like the club has decided to spend up big in that area now (that's not MON area).
FFS!

Roosters a big club??
Take out their billionaire owner how big are they really?? No juniors, no fans they bring SFA to RL. And the dogs?? Their fair weather fans have only come out of their hovels the last 12 months.

I’d argue we are number 1, considering lack of success the last 40 years it wouldn’t even be close if we weren’t such a clusterf**k.
The Roosters are a massive club and the billionaire is a big reason why. Do you reckon he lost any money during Covid?

In regards to expenditure, I understand that once the NRL football clubs revenues from the NRL grant, sponsorships and memberships basically covered all expenses the Leagues Club board consolidated its business over a year or more.

They then advised the football club that as their charter was to support junior rugby league in the district they were in a position to increase expenditure in that area by multiples. The work done by the League club board shouldn’t be underestimated , and in a sense the new football club board is now filled with professional members that are more focussed on controls and revenue expenditure they saw it as a natural progression.

Ryles wants a eyes up hooker and neither smith or hands suit his requirements in that regard , Hudson does but he's a few years away , he will sign an external hooker and a desilva is the type he will go for

Prior to this year we had the worst training facility in Sydney. Securing the funding and building it was something that took time. The Panthers had state of the art facilities in 2016 ffs. Where’d they get the money for that?

Ands that’s just facilities. All the other stuff, including pathways, requires funding too. Now, we might not have had enough prior to the current admin coming on board (our facilities and pathways suggest we didn’t), but maybe we do now. Our facilities and pathways suggest we do. In that case, does current management really deserve criticism?

That’s a weak excuse. They’ve had years and the money yet only now are they catching up. It’s clear they lacked urgency and leadership. Criticism is fully justified.

TDS is great quality and may be a future rep player, but I’m not sure he’s what we need right now. If Smith hadn’t come along in leaps and bounds then we hopefully would have been 100% all in on TDS - but he’ll want to be starting 9, and I’m sure Smith does too - it just doesn’t compute when other clubs are in need of a starting 9.

my guess is an immediate player swap with Newcastle for KPP

I thought Newcastle had the next best young hooker in NSW going around already.

They shouldn't need TDS unless they have realised what they bought 6 months ago is a dud.
