He was an elite player until a couple of years ago. 140+ metres and almost a try assist per game in 2023. That's elite. Now he's averaging fewer than 110m and a TA every second game. Defence is still very good:Perhaps the issue is that Dylbro is paid like an elite 6, when in fact he’s a good player, better defender and a so so in attack. In no description is the player elite, and that’s why there is disappointment in his overall impact on games .
Compare to other elite 6s, he’s not in their postcode, even Nikorima seems to have him covered, he’s a decent person who’s come through the system but like a lot of recent extensions, overpaid for his real ability .
It explains why Papalii was poor. Just don't deny it.
Are you going to be enthused if he defends in the middle again next week? When is Ryley Smith back ffsYes that's correct and my point merkin
He’s become a plodder and I for one would like to know why. I theorise that he’s not put the work into making himself a better player. He’s a coaster. f**k his eyes.He was an elite player until a couple of years ago. 140+ metres and almost a try assist per game in 2023. That's elite. RCG and Gutho were contracted for this season. They can't have left this year unless the club made the decision for them to do so. Same with Joffa.I'd argue that Carty, Lane and to a lesser extent Matto, don't play the style Ryles wants and therefore in his mind arent/weren't the best selections, hence they weren't selected or were dropped.
Joffa... meh. Neither here nor there whether he makes the 17 over Doorey, Tuivati and Moretti.
RCG and Gutho were long-term decisions made by the players, not the coach.
We won't finish this year on the ladder any higher than 12th, it's time to prepare for 2026.And are you supporting swapping 130+ gamer in Brown for 6 gamer in Papalli? I thought loss of experience was one of your recent concerns dude.
They were contracted. It was certainly the coaches decision to let them go early.RCG and Gutho were long-term decisions made by the players, not the coach.
Lane was given an opportunity more than matto and carty. After his return from injury he was chosen all the time. Only when he didn't perform he was dropped.I'd argue that Carty, Lane and to a lesser extent Matto, don't play the style Ryles wants and therefore in his mind arent/weren't the best selections, hence they weren't selected or were dropped.

The problem then became the options that were available to the players to extend their contracts, a decision that has been a cause for concern with players remaining when not needed, and able to delay a decision on commitment . That also meant a player moved after a number of weeks into the season without the club being In a position to recruit given the timing of the option.I'd argue that Carty, Lane and to a lesser extent Matto, don't play the style Ryles wants and therefore in his mind arent/weren't the best selections, hence they weren't selected or were dropped.
I'd also keep Brown in the side, I'd probably just play him at Centre. Giving Papali'i game time at 6 is the priority though. And are you supporting swapping 130+ gamer in Brown for 6 gamer in Papalli? I thought loss of experience was one of your recent concerns dude.
It was an interesting one in both these cases. We didn't want them for 2026 so do we hang on to them for '25 (which we could have done) or do the right thing by the player and let them go when they found a multi-year contract? They were contracted. It was certainly the coaches decision to let them go early.
Yep, so dropped or not selected based on either form or training (whatever the coaching staff use to make selection decisions).Lane was given an opportunity more than matto and carty. After his return from injury he was chosen all the time. Only when he didn't perform he was dropped.
Matto and carry were put in reggies and matto only got his opportunities when there were injuries
Carty for mine shouldve been changed to the walker role. He did play in the middle a few times previously and i thought looked dangerous
But I didn't think he was frozen out like Carty and Matto. He was given opportunitiesYep, so dropped or not selected based on either form or training (whatever the coaching staff use to make selection decisions).

Joash with his 6 games plays with more composure than a 130+ game international in Brown. And are you supporting swapping 130+ gamer in Brown for 6 gamer in Papalli? I thought loss of experience was one of your recent concerns dude.
He deserves the invite for the week, he's been our best forward all year.
