He's ordinary now but streets ahead of his peers of the same age (including Matt Arthur, another one with very high ceiling). Da Silva will probably play Origin, but offers close to zero for the rest of the year. He will likely be a gun by the final year of this contract, which is great, but how good will he be in the first three years? In a perfect world we would be giving him a contract starting in 2029, not finishing in that year.
The price and how it’s structured over the next 4 will be critical PouPou - If we must overpay a player you’d at least want them to be in their prime and even better yet play a premium position. I guess I’m just glass half empty on this one and find it unlikely he’ll become a truly elite class player while we could get better value finding high floor/low ceiling players in his position. In a perfect world we’ve locked down a gun prop & backrower before 2029.

I'm actually pretty excited about TDS, because he will almost certainly improve over the course of the contract. But it would be foolish to think it's impossible to overpay a player just because he's young.

Zac certainly earned his pay packet in yesterday’s game - the bloke is a good player , but at times he is downright bloody ‘orrible . ;)
No, he is always great. Taking risks is part of his job, plus he contributes heavily to our go forward. He broke five tackles yesterday, scored a try and made another 197 metres. He is a gun.

Very true Pou whatever his ceiling is he will only get better playing more first grade. If it can work this way I feel Ryley starting & Talyn off the bench could be potentially very effective pairing although the supposed price & contract would dictate TDS being the dominant hooker going forward.

Smith is the better player right now but TDS has far more upside.

Interesting signing… I understand the state of the cap with the new franchises coming in have blown it out a bit but $650k (ave) over 4.5 years does seem overs for a 20yo kid.

It’s a big investment in terms of both time and dollars. They are obviously convinced that TDS is the style of player we need.

I thought no doubt he would be at Manly where he would likely walk into the 9 jersey, so that’s a victory for the recruitment team to convince the kid we are the right club for him.

I like the thought of a Ryley/TDS combo in terms of their play styles complementing one another. They are still both young and developing though,TDS has struggled with the physical demands of first grade so far, I just hope he grows into those Eyebrows.

I would say this signing will mean Coinakis will more than likely look for a new club with better long term opportunities.

Who’s saying we aren’t overpaying him??

We couldn’t attract flies atm, of course we have to over pay to get talent here. But he has massive upside and it’s up to Ryles and his staff to get the best out of him.

You are just pissed because he’s not an utter plodder, because we all know that’s what gets you wet around the wee wee. You miss us signing blokes like Harper, Davey and Lussick.
