Rumours and Stuff

I would have thought the correct and classy act would have been Parramatta to wait until the Tigers had announced his release before Parra announced they had signed him. Stay classy Parra.
Not your best effort Tiger, perhaps the mass debate from Tigers fans should be more about how the decision to release him impacts on the club. Sure you have Api, question is how does it look for the CEO and other juniors coming through. Far more important than trying to score a point back on a poster.

The Shibasaki story should serve as a reminder to any club of how important, great football talent spotting is. Train and trial deal 6 months ago. Handful of couple dozen games over 6 or 7 years in NRL and he’s done a great job for Brisbane. Now selected to debut for the Maroons. Fair bit of faith there…

We should look to this sort of stuff as a North Star for our talent spotting.

It is almost the Vince Papali story (Mark Wahlberg 'Invincible'). Maybe if he scores the winning try from a charge down it will be better and the first great NRL movie.

Possibly but more likely about the same I reckon. Bellamy was so far ahead of the rest of the coaching fraternity in terms of focusing hard on the dark arts etc - that is part of development of players. Winning the ruck - Storm were head and shoulders above other for ages and Smith cashed in. Could be wrong.
Well here's a list of players who came through the Storm's pathways, left the club and became better players elsewhere:

Atkinson
Auva'a
Drinkwater
Fa'asuamaleaui
Hampton
Hunt
Hynes
Mann
McLean
O'Neill
Tagataese
Tolman
Walters

Did they receive better coaching at their new clubs or were they always youngsters with NRL potential that were identified and poached by Melbourne's extremely well resourced junior recruitment apparatus?

There's also the likes of Croft, Kelly, Ieremia, Seve, Tonumaipe'a and Lumelume, who never amounted to much, despite the Storm's supposed ability to develop players. Every club is playing the numbers game with pathways recruitment, having successes and failures. But clubs like the Storm have a much better strike rate than other clubs. The fact they sign youngsters who chase opportunities elsewhere and thrive, regardless of going to worse clubs, is good evidence that they were always going to become NRL players (or better), and that Melbourne identified it and won their signatures ahead of rival clubs.

Its a great question. I understand and agree with him leaving for Parra..... in November. I dont understand why now.

That is the easy part. Jared Haywood is the future and the timing will be perfect for him to study from Api and TDS wont block him.

So why care who and when announced him leaving or signing?
At the end of the day the tuggers told him hes free to leave before June 30 if he finds a club.
Footy is business.
Loyalty is not what it used to be.
If your up and coming hooker is better or going to be better than Tallyn then the right decision has been made for all parties concerned.

you seem to be mistaking me for someone who is upset he is leaving

the right decision has been made for all parties for him to leave......Im going to need a little more information on why it needs to happen today.

More of this kind of chat and less of the argumentative, controversial chat.
You can be good. You choose not to be.
I will still buy you a beer or beverage of your choice when we finally win a comp
I throw one liners around at work all day ffs. What I can’t do there is nuanced discussion of the NRL. Turns out smart people make even less effort to understand the game than you dopey merkins.
