The key to improvement and success for the club is the work to sign those needed elite players to round out a young and promising roster.

Whether they have the connections outside of Ryles to get it done is the big question, there must be salary cap room and roster space given the needs of middle, edge , centre and hopefully a 5/8 to complete the roster requirements. That should provide time for the talented looking juniors to mature and add to the core.

Let’s see if the so callled big 3 in the front office can get things done, fingers and everything crossed that they can . Time we didn’t look at other clubs signings with envy.

Not only get a head start, but he would have copped the media storm this year on how Newcastle f**ked up, and started next season with no expectations and pressure. Now he'll have to through it all at the start of next season, and potentially derail the whole teams season.

This kid looks like he doesn't think much and just wings it through life.

Just checking whether we are we looking at Newcastle's signing of a number 6 for 2026 and beyond with envy?

He is managed by the same company that manage BA, I reckon Orr convinced him to leave. Brown probably would have stayed for less.. He is going to hate it up at Newcastle..

We only have 1 spot left for 2026 but that does include Matto, Lane & Brendan hands who the club are trying to get rid of

Seriously, are you the defence counsel in Perry Mason, just an observation.if you’re convinced that they are better than their record, good . By the way I think they need to improve , that’s all.

Mate there hasnt been any signings by any club for 2026 that I would actually be envious of except maybe Cobo and Thompson and neither were ever coming here:

Tigers: Kai Pearce-Paul & Jayden Sullivan
Roosters: Reece Robson
Dragons: Daniel Atkinson
Bunnies: Bronson Garlick, Jonah Glover , Moala Graham-Taufa
Cowboys: Reed Mahoney
Newcastle: Dylan Brown
Warriors: Morgan Gannon, Jye Linnane
Manly: Jamal Fogarty, Onitoni Large
Titans: Kurtis Morrin
Dolphins: Selwyn Cobbo, Morgan Knowles, Sebastian Su'a
Dogs: Leo Thompson
Raiders: Jayden Brailey
Broncos: Grant Anderson

You refer to signing a long term contracted player who for some reason had multiple options in his favour that the original club inserted which provided the escape clause . The same one where it may well have cost said club , a pair of talented locals. Ummm , interesting observation.

No, I am referring to a player who had the option to remain at his present club on a good deal for his current form, however got offered such an obscene contract in dollars and length that our R&R team and management decided not to match or better it. A player option is not an escape clause FFS. It's a mutual agreement on future terms should the player decide to take it up. Brown's current contract with us expired 31st October 2025 on the day he signed it, unless he chose to accept a new one at those pre-agreed terms.

We don’t need signings at the meh level you have outlined, the delay due to losing Dylbro and possibly not sorting out the players deemed unnecessary but on long term contracts are all part of the issue. They should be pro active and aggressive, that hasn’t been the case and we are seeing the result.

Players that are at the level we need are hunted and signed ahead of contracts completion and then negotiated early releases. Don’t t know the answer but the question is, what are we doing. If they actually do the unexpected great, still waiting and have been since almost Brian Smith era.

I havent outlined meh level players, I have listed all players that are moving clubs for 2026.
If they are meh level, aren't you glad we haven't signed them?

And you mean hunted and signed ahead of contract completion and negotiated an early release like we did 2 weeks ago for Da Silva?

Agree, none of the players you mentioned would make a significant difference to the club. Da Silva pops up and that’s good, but where are the aggressive moves we see elsewhere. Anyway, if you believe the R&R is doing a serviceable job, we can probably agree. Unfortunately that’s not what’s needed currently (serviceable that is ) been said before by most metrics we are a big club that hasn’t been doing business at that level. If it changes, terrific, I took my kids to the 4 GFs we won, getting older and want to see us do it again, we have the green shoots, need to add the mature, elite level support to make us great again 🤔

Not sure there’s anything wrong with that!
