When he agreed to terms with Parra, it was for 2026, when Tigers let him negotiate it was for 2026.2025.
I based it off NRL Tracker which showed the 2026 gains and losses, not the 2025 mid-season ones.

A big part of the improvement Papalii needs (physical strength) won’t come until the preseason. But hopefully his confidence and decision making improves over the rest of the season. He certainly hasn’t embarrassed himself in his NRL appearances thus far. That will be good for his confidence. And it’s fair to say he’s too good for reserve grade.Thought Joash was poor last game but I'll put it down to limited training and playing in that position. If Ryles persists with him there I hope to see big improvement in him over the coming weeks to see if can form partnership with Moses long term.
But it’s 2025 and he is at the bulldogs - pretty simple factWhen he agreed to terms with Parra, it was for 2026, when Tigers let him negotiate it was for 2026.
It was player options they can’t publicise due to backlash from fans. They can still report on club options. So I was listening to Clint Newton talking on Kent's podcast the other day and he seemed to be saying that the RLPA negotiated a rule where options in contracts are no longer publicised.
edit. i was wrong i got it arse backwards the club cannot say that it is a 2 year contact if it is only one with an option
Emjaycee was listing players that were available to sign for 2026. The point was that there were no quality players available for 2026. Lachlan Galvin was available for 2026 and in fact toured Kellyville and spoke to the great Jason Ryles personally. Was Lachlan Galvin not available for 2026 when he spoke to Ryles? But it’s 2025 and he is at the bulldogs - pretty simple fact
you have gds - Galvin derangement syndrome - and you need to bring him up all the time
lucky this is a tigers forum.
Yep, as if he gives a shit what the media says. He and his family are set for life.TBF, it’s worked ok for him so far.
The options weren’t an escape clause, they were to stay if he couldn’t find anything better. You refer to signing a long term contracted player who for some reason had multiple options in his favour that the original club inserted which provided the escape clause .
He left because he was off contract. That was the case whether he had the option or not. And he was one of our best players and had a good relationship with the old coach. That’s why Sanders and Talagi left. They had better opportunities at their new clubs. They weren’t to know Drown would follow the old coach out the door. The same one where it may well have cost said club , a pair of talented locals. Ummm , interesting observation.
ffsNo, I am referring to a player who had the option to remain at his present club on a good deal for his current form, however got offered such an obscene contract in dollars and length that our R&R team and management decided not to match or better it. A player option is not an escape clause FFS. It's a mutual agreement on future terms should the player decide to take it up. Brown's current contract with us expired 31st October 2025 on the day he signed it, unless he chose to accept a new one at those pre-agreed terms.
I wasn't expecting anything like this (big name signings) until November 2025.Da Silva pops up and that’s good, but where are the aggressive moves we see elsewhere.
No emjaycee was posting in hindsight about players available for 2026.Emjaycee was listing players that were available to sign for 2026. I can’t believe we got it soooooo right!!And all these recruits have got us competing for another spoon. It’s not great recruiting.

Galvin was available for 2026 end of story, I was merely pointing that out, Im seriously not trolling and cant imagine why you think I would be?No emjaycee was posting in hindsight about players available for 2026.
with the benefit of the same hindsight, Galvin was available in 2025.
you are a world class troll who seems to get that extra bit of lead in the pencil for a few weeks after each tigers win.
I agree, but what I don't agree with are the bombs being thrown around like "because he doesn't want to be there next year", when the same people have said that he'd be crazy not to take the money. Most of the media coverage about the Drown dumping has been very supportive of Ryles.
SEN this morning were all for it.
I am concerned that News Corp Hacks in Rothfield, Crawley, Riccio, Read were all complementary of the brave call Ryles has made that other coaches may not have.
But outside of carry on during the commentary from Ennis & Voss during the game i think most people have accepted in the game its the right decision.
Even NRL360 barely touched on it which generally means they all agree with it.
Otherwise they would spend 10-15 debating and arguing about it.
I'm not entirely on board with this argument. It's not like we weren't paying him close to a million a year anyway. As far as the 10 year certainty bit, well if he plays anything like he has for us in the past 18 months then it's going to cost him in the long run and his 13 million dollar contract is going to be worthless.I agree, but what I don't agree with are the bombs being thrown around like "because he doesn't want to be there next year", when the same people have said that he'd be crazy not to take the money.
IMHO, if he did a Stefano and ditched Tigers and went to Storm - he didn't want to be there. Leaving the Eels for $13m is an unavoidable life/business decision.
