Told tonight we still have our sights on luring Pezet here.

And will have a massive play at getting him now Hughes has extended.

Makes sense why we haven't rushed for a few options previously.

I am little concerned Wishart is playing 7 ahead of him. Does that show the storm dont rate him as highly if there not prepared to put him in when Hughes is out injured.

Not sure but our interest at this stage hasnt waivered
Melbourne will play him at 7, Wishart will go to the bench

Wishart plays 7 , and basically Pezet is a 6. Interesting what will happen, no doubt MON will be able to spin his opportunity with the Eels . Well, hope so if he’s really a target.

Tricky one as you’d think we’d like to offer a pathway for our younger half’s but I’d imagine Pezet would want a 3 year deal or maybe more … unless we view him as evetually taking mitches spot once he finishes

Well when Moses retires in what 5-6 years Pezet will be 27-28 which is prime years for a Halfback after the early development.

Its very early to be looking at a succession plan but the lack of quality halves and halfbacks in the game atm. You do have to look ahead slightly.

Maybe the long term plan/vision is for Pezet to come play at 6 with then to take over Moses at 7,

But hopefully by then i wont give much of a shit if Moses leads us to the promised land in the next 5 years.

Anyone watch much of pezet pre injury? Hasnt played much recently to get too much of a handle on how he is. Obviously if the storm locked him down for a long time (with the jarome clause) they mustve seen something good in him and probably why Ryles rates him as well.

But it really only makes sense for the receiving team IF their current halfback if injured and not going to play for a year.
Yeah, I really don’t see the benefit for the team potentially loaning Pezet. Look at when Tigers loaned Harry Grant - that really only benefited both Grant and the Storm in giving Grant a full season as a starting hooker to develop in a middling team with little expectations. The Tigers really didn’t get any value out of it.

Such a deal only makes sense if you’re either covering a season long injury (as you suggest) or you need a bridge halfback to slowly introduce a rookie into first grade. But in either case, I don’t know why you’d go for a relatively inexperienced (in terms of first grade games played) half like Pezet. You’d find a veteran (like Roosters tried with Chad Townsend this season).

It would definitely help his game develop - if he could develop a good offload, or pass before the line, his lack of power is not so important, because now, defenders have to make a decision on whether he is passing the ball, or going himself.

He can probably get there, given his age.

I'd like to see it - I have a soft spot for hard-working defensive players, because every team needs at least one.

But if he could develop something to boost his attack, that would be amazing.
He does have a passing game. I remember this one against Penrith:

I suspect Wishart is there to defend, and Pezet will get most of his minutes if they're chasing points or just up by 20.
